One of the many wonderful aspects of the BY, with kudos to Nan the creator, is that you begin to feel friendship
with people you've never met. Know what I mean? Am sure I'll miss some names that I've learned to care about in risking
this, but here is a roll of some of you, in no particular order, with whom I feel a kinship built over the years. If comfortable with this, would you respond on this thread and let us know how things are going for you as the holidays unfold?

@RSHERMVIKES @BroadwayVa , @EricLA @CocoHusky , @old dude, @Dogged @veryolddog , @VAMike23 , @Tonyc , @JordyG , @Kaizen , @PAHuskeyFan , @DavidinNaples ,@MilfordHusky ,@scoop, @JavaMan , @RockyMTblue2 , @j66kicker , @Bama fan ,@Sifaka , @Carnac @MSGRET @Bellemare @eebmg @uconnell @Bigboote @meyers7 , @bantamlaker Am sure I missed some with whom I feel a connection.

At very least, would like to know how you are doing. Some of us are "getting up there." Wishing you Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a splendid and healthy New Year. And stay well, Winlots

Thanks for asking @winlots. Once again this season for me is a double edged sword as I watch the blatant commercialism of Christmas couple with my birthday: a week before Christmas, every year, without fail. For me it's always odd watching my mirrored self get older while this seasons focus is unrelentingly about the very young. I hope you all have a Happy Merry this year. I wish everyone the best of health this coming year and for many years after. Hopefully we'll all see Lauren Betts win her 3rd consecutive championship for the Husky's.

What a nice gesture. Thank you, and thanks for thinking of me. I'm wishing you and yours all the best this holiday season. May 2020 be the best year yet for you and your family. May God's blessings, mercy and favor be with you.

Family is the most important treasure that we have. NOTHING is more important than family. Family like life should never be taken for granted. Tomorrow is not promised. I almost cashed my chips the week before Thanksgiving (blood clots in my lungs and heart). I'm OK now, but it was a very close call. I'm thankful for everyday I wake up. Everyday above ground is a good day. :)

There are thousands of people that have no one to share the holidays with, thus the holiday season is not a joyous time for them. Even if it's for one day, they would love to be able to spend a day with family or loved ones.

I'm long passed the need to receive gifts for Christmas. I became Santa Claus to my wife, kids and grands a long time ago. Being with my wife, children and grandchildren (and in laws) at our annual family Christmas dinner, watching them open their gifts and looking at the glee and satisfaction on their faces as they open their presents is more than enough Christmas cheer for me, although I keep looking for that new Ford F150 Lariat crew-cab pick up under the tree every year.

Nothing yet, but I'm not giving up hope. Maybe someone in the family will win the lottery and bless me. :p Christmas for me is a time to reflect on the past year, and all that I have to be thankful for.

For many, Christmas is the one time each year when family members come together from all over the country, to enjoy each other's company and fellowship, and share stories about the their family, and where life has taken them the past year.

Remember the reason for the season. This is my favorite time of the year. I like to share what we have with others less fortunate. My church has an "adopt a family for Christmas" program every year that I participate in.
It blesses me as much to give as it does the family that receives it. There are a lot of people out there that are hurting and can use a little help. It really is more blessed to give than receive.

The other reason I like this time of year is because it's basketball season, and our girls are mounting their assault on the rest of WCBB, as they march towards another final four, and another national championship.

Having the Boneyard makes it a lot more fun. Think how dull and listless the season would be WITHOUT it. Parish the thought. I admit it, I'm addicted to the yard. :) I'm really looking forward to the second half of the season, especially the games against Baylor, Oregon, SC and Tennessee. We have not played a top 10 ranked team yet, so these games will tell us exactly where we are.

Merry Christmas and a very happy and prosperous new year to all of my boneyard brethren, even our non-UConn regulars. Keep posting.

Be a blessing to someone this holiday season. It will bless you as much as it will them. Thanks again for thinking of me, I appreciate it. This roll call was a great idea. Let's do it every year. Go Huskies. :)

Right back at you winlots. Best wishes for the holiday season to you and everyone else here on the BY. There is most definitely a kinship that develops on this forum that is unique.

More than a few of us are “getting up there” these days. I am fighting Father Time as best I can. I am helped immensely in this effort by my 2 yr old grandson, who insists I slide down the side-by-side slides at the playground together with him.

Thanks @winlots ... happy and proud to be on your list. Christmas is going to be quiet and calm at our house. Son, Daughter-in-law and Grandson (15.5 months) just departed PA headed to BWI for flight to visit Her parents in California for the holidays . Our prize is a few days before hand and they leave their bulldog with us while they are gone. Happy to do it, but he can be exhausting. ;)
Praying for major improvements in the New Year... my wife has the medical issues in our family...that have progressed to the point where she has to use a wheelchair to get around. Mentally she is still sharp, but physically everything is difficult. Hoping and praying that her new Doctor at Johns Hopkins Medical Center can find some relief. :(
A shining light for me to look forward to.. (a) watching all the UCONN WBB games on line or TV...and (b) I recently found out I'll be at the Feb 3rd game (vs Oregon :D--- weather permitting of course). Every couple years I get to see a game in person, but this will be the first time it isn't a bottom tier AAC opponent. I am so excited. :D

WISHING ALL BY'ers a wonderful holiday and the very best of blessings in 2020.

I concur with everything that Winlots has said. Anybody got a problem with that?

At this time I would like to wish everyone on the Boneyard a Merry Christmas. Be safe, be healthy for you and your families and may all of your dreams come true. And last, my hat is off to all veterans. For those in the military serving overseas, stay safe, stay healthy, don't let your guard down, and we want you home safe and sound as soon as possible. Amen.

As most of you know the last 5 years have been rough physically! I just recently learned I have COPD and I am a NON-smoker! So physical weakness & shortness of breath is a minute to minute occurrence!
I have found great support from BYers with each illness and I can't thank all of you enough for that support!
I told my regular Doctor, "3 things are going really well at this time of my life, 72 years old, my friends, my Bi-pap/sleep, my bladder use/is back regular again, everything else stinks!" I cleaned that up for the Mods!
So between my Yankees and UCONN WBB it gets me thru a year!
Good wishes for BYers Christmas, Hanukka, & Kwanza, celebrations!

Thanks to @winlots for prompting all of us to remember and celebrate our friends here on the BY. Happy holidays to all, and may you and our UConn ladies have a wonderful and fruitful New Year. Here is a little Christmas tune by some guys who live up the road from us.

BAMA: awesome! Thanks for adding music for us via this grand tune. The mentions therein of the many and varied parts of this USA seem to speak to me of the closeness we enjoy on here despite the miles which separate us
I'm mix of blatant sentimentality and outspokenness. And this music brought me to tears along with the stories many are telling here today. Thank you. And when you see those "guys up the road," tell em what you've done for us today.

Nice thread, @winlots! I hope you are well, Doc!

I'm doing ok health wise, especially for a multiple-time cancer survivor. However, my conditioning sucks. I need to get back in shape. Marathon running seems like a very distant memory.

A brief report on the grandchildren, age-wise: #1 just completed a semester at the Les Aspin Center in Washington, D.C. as a junior at Marquette. #2, whom some of you may remember as one of the 7 Americans on the Philippines U-16 soccer team a few year ago, is at the Milwaukee School of Engineering and made All-NACC Conference as a freshman, scoring 16 goals on a team that made it to the conference semis. #3 moved from New York to Houston and got his first set of golf clubs today at age 6. He's tall, so he could be the next Dustin Johnson. #4 also moved to Houston and is still at the 101st percentile (oxymoron!) in height. They live down the street from Rice, so she may be the next Nancy Mulkey. She expects a Christmas card from Jeff Walz within a few years.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all my Boneyard friends!

Thank you @winlots. As a relative newcomer I am flattered to be included with so many of the BY “greats.” I came to the BY for the basketball but along the way I’ve learned new music, new recipes, etc. What could be better? I wish you all Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and a happy New Year. May everyone have good health and be able to fully enjoy the next great run of UConn dominating women’s college basketball which we hope is coming soon.

MIL: Sure appreciated your update. I don't do a lot of praying, with the quaint notion that if I don't ask for help very often, I'll get a good hearing when I do. But being struck by the amount of suffering that has been revealed in the very personal revelations of so many on hear, I'm going to say a major league prayer right now for all of the afflicted Yarders and their families. God Bless You.
