Looking for some suggestions for good, local holiday brews that I should be able to find in and around Tolland County.

I'm heading up with the family for Christmas and want to try something beyond the Sam Adam's, Blue Moon's and other national breweries.

Both Relic (Plainville) and Back East (Bloomfield) have their Winter brews out.

If you know anyone traveling through PA. Bell's Xmas Ale is outstanding.

It's about 50/50 whether people tend to like it, but I love the Hooker Nor'Easter.

I do agree with Mike that the best winter beer out there is the Harpoon Winter Warmer. Delicious.

I second the Harpoon Winter Warmer suggestion. I know the OP said something beyond Sam Adams but their new "White Christmas" is phenomenal. It takes the best of Sam Winter and Harpoon WW and combines them.

Has anyone tried any of the bad elf beers. Say them at total wine. They were like 5-6 dollars each but some of them were 8-10 percent alcohol

Bad elf
Criminally bad elf
Insanely bad elf.

Curious before I tried

Really like the Sweetwater's and I can find them any where down here in Florida.

Does Red Hook make any thing good for the winter?

Am I the only person who hates all winter brews? Give me an Octoberfest or a pumpkin beer any day over this winter garbage.

I just bought a 12 of Winter Warmer based on the recommendations above. I like Sam's winter lager fine so hoping it's an upgrade.

Red Hook used to make a spectacular winter ale. I not sure they still do. Magic Hat feast of fools is amazing. Winter Warmer is too spiced for me. Give Clown Shoes beers a shot if you haven't

yeah

Will look for it then.

Thanks.

This is what the Boneyard does best. duck pinterest, Angie's list and the rest of them cackling hen websites. I come to the Boneyard when I need referrals for local brews.

It's a stout and a good one. Been drinking it a lot lately. The feast of fools is their special holiday brew in a champagne bottle.

Had to bump this thread out of pure respect to the Harpoon Winter Warmer recommendation. Grabbed 12 and sampled 2 (heading toward 4). Wow! Tasty and I'll be damned if I didn't feel warmer. Cheers! Keep the recommendations coming as we idle with Husky hoops.
