A lot to like for sure but he's not starting over Whaley anytime soon. His half court defense is a work in progress. Needs to learn how to hard hedge and get back to his guy

Agree with you. Coach Hurley said in the postgame presser that Sanogo was lost on both sides of the ball despite his production. I think Zay is locked into the starting lineup. Exciting to think how good sanogo can ultimately be given Hurley’s comment.

I'm most impressed with his hands and touch.

We know he's a big, strong guy who's going to collect rebounds and block shots (especially against small teams).

But the ability to go right back up with a soft hook shot without fumbling it away or clanging it off the rim isn't something we've see from a freshman big in a long time.

It's incredible what Hurley has been able to do with this roster in 2 years.

Beyond incredible. Only four players left from two years ago in bold:
2018-19 vs. 2020-21
Kwintin Williams----Akok Akok
Eric Cobb-----------Adama Sanogo
Kassoum Yakwe----Richie Springs
Tarin Smith---------Tyrese Martin
Mamadou Diarra--Javonte Brown
Christian Vital-----RJ Cole
Sydney Wilson----James Bouknight
Jalen Adams------Andre Jackson
Alterique Gilbert--Jalen Gaffney
Josh Carlton------Josh Carlton
Tyler Polley-------Tyler Polley
Brendan Adams--Brendan Adams
Isaiah Whaley----Isaiah Whaley

Sanogo and Jackson seem to have the "it" quality. Plus Bouk and a great cast.
Gonna be a good year if the virus is in check.

But are we sure it's the same guy?

The sad thing is you could ask the same question about JC.................here's hoping he gets back to playing like he did two years ago.

If Sanogo hedging too far out and leaving his man momentarily open is one of the few liabilities he showed last night Hurley will def sure that up and coach him up. Cant knock a 6'10" goliath looking to contribute on the perimeter D. Our man to man and ability to deny second and third passes looked great. Cant wait for some true meaningful games to be played!

He's one of those guys that people seem to bounce off of. I saw several teeth-rattling picks. On one of them the pickee just kind of crumpled to the floor. On one of his rebounds he was surrounded by about 4 guys from both teams. As he went up for the board all those guys kind of bounced backward.

For me it was the quickness that blew me away. A guy with that size and weight but being able to move his feet that quick and be actually be fast. Would be an unstoppable tight end...

He moves well. He looks very promising. But remember, the competition was much shorter and lighter.
