Hines visiting tomorrow!!!

If he takes that visit, it doesn’t bode well for good guys. Let’s hope it doesn’t get to that.
I don't know. If its all about the bag and SJU is going to throw a lot at him, maybe. But I think UConn's continued excellence in the tournament and our track record with Sanogo, Clingan and particularly Reed should make it a no brainer for him if he's looking for actual development, deep tournament runs, and NBA aspirations.

I do wonder how Hurley feels about potentially taking someone from SH. I know its a different world, but I'm sure the thought of taking a Big East transfer, especially from SH and Halloway, still makes him uneasy

Not many people are built like Tarris a 6’11 NFL Defensive End lol…but Hines has the body type to approach that and has massive hands which makes him great rebounder and finisher in the paint, and has 3 years of eligibility if he doesn’t go pro early
Bigger than Kawhi's?

Love his motor, strong hands, quick twitch functional athleticism, abilities to pass and set screens. The fouling is my biggest concern. We get called for a lot of fouls, and he fouls a ton. Which is why is PT was so limited. We need a good #2 Center.

Wait, what’s better? The fact our guys started following him, or that one of those guys is Braylon?
Yes.

I know nothing about Hines, dont remember him from the Seton Hall games. What would his expected stat line be? Any UConn or NBA player comparison to him? 6pts 5 rebs at on average at best Seton Hall seems like a downgrade from Reibe not knowing any other context.

His freshman numbers projected to 25 minutes would project to 9pts, 7.5 reb., and nearly 2.5 blocks in an offense that relied almost exclusively on dribble penetration. That compares favorably to Reed's freshman numbers, even when taking quality of competition into account. He's much more limited offensively but I think a better more explosive athlete than Reed. He'll need to add something to his game offensively and limit fouls. He split time with Payne but his minutes were up in the last 6 games or so of the season. Great screener (something we struggled with this year).

I don't get this talk that Hines fouls so much that's why he only played 18 minutes per game and this worrying about him being so foul prone. Hines never fouled out of a game. He was their most talented player by far, what exactly was Shaheen saving all these fouls for?

Hines fouled less than Reed, Clingan, Sanogo, and Reibe in their first years with the program and Clingan was the only one who contested shots like him.

I think that's why there's the interest in McKeever as well. He didn't block many shots, but he did deter traffic in the lane and averaged like 2 fouls a game. I think Hurley wants a center who can stay on the floor for long stretches. As good as Tarris was this year, there were still times when he'd pick up a 2nd in the first half 30 feet from the basket. But the big guy was the biggest for the most part when we needed him most. This year's run will always be remembered for Mullins's shot, but don't forget about the monster performance Reed had in the first round and every bit of it was needed.
