HFS…Solo out next year with a wrist injury

Never heard of a year long wrist injury.

But I’m sure he probably wants to have the most productive senior year possible. Probably wouldn’t happen if he has to sit out the summer recovering and then work his way back into a very competitive lineup.
100%, these things don’t happen in a vacuum. I don’t think he takes the whole year off if Mullins wasn’t coming back.

i'm not entirely persuaded by this. but i'm not unconvinced either

Unless we bring in a portal guy,

Silas
Mullins
Ross
NK
Hines

Is looking like the lineup going into the year. Need bench pieces though unless we want to rely on the freshman (which I personally don’t mind).

Woah. Don't blame this on the training staff. He like Silas played through a significant injury. Smart move on his part. We have a starting 5 of Demary, Mullins, Ross, Khamenia and Hines. We have som backup holes to fill. Looking at you Landrew and County! Still need a backup PG/CG and Center/PF

There has literally been nothing but talk about a huge log jam at the 2/3/4 and now people are freaking out that we have a huge hole there? Mullins will slide into a more natural slot at the 2, Ross/Landrew should be fine at the 3, and we have Khamenia at the 4. I presume they’ll bring in a vet PG behind Silas and County will be able to get minutes at the 2.

Hope Solo heals up and is ready to go in 2027.

Ummmmmmmmmm. WOW.

Aside from Karaban, Solo was my favorite player on last year’s roster. I assumed he was going through a long mental slump. But the kid bleeds blue. He’s a warrior and seemingly played through a SERIOUS injury to try to win us a chip. Almost succeeded

Get well soon Solo. Hopefully he can get some real practice reps for a good chunk of next season. Come back the year after ready to kill. Chop wood and carry water!

I'm not surprised he needed surgery, but am surprised he'll be out all year. He'll come back stronger and hopefully regain his production from his soph yr.

Now we need another starting guard, as well as backup PG.

It really explains a lot of the shooting woes. He had the shooting woes before the injury this year and going back to the end of last year as well. But it looks like the games between and including the Kansas game to the first Butler game (where he hurt his wrist bracing for landing) he was coming around by shooting 12-31 for 38.7%. After that injury he had a big adjustment just as he was getting back on track.

I know his up and down play can drive me nuts sometimes as I think, "he giveth and then taketh away". Having said all of that, Solo Ball deserves our gratitude for giving it his all for UConn and helping get them to the National Championship game in this successful season.

People were saying we needed minutes for County. Here they are... Not ideal but from what I've heard he's more of a combo guard than a PG anyways
I think we will be reaching out for another guard at least a Malachi type to help. Demary can backup the 2 if needed if we bring in a decent PG to back him up. Thus PG Demary/Portal, SG Mullins/Demary. If we get a combo guard then maybe PG Demary/Portal, SG Mullins/Portal. We definitely will be looking for a guard.

Why does everyone on the yard act like the staff is finding out about this in real time like we are?

They’ve probably known this was on the table since the tourney ended.

I have zero concern the staff is well prepared and placing their chess pieces in the portal properly.

Get well soon Solo!!

Who is going to back up Mullins? We need a 2 guard.
Well if the 2 freshmen are good enough then there are minutes at the 2-3 for both of them. Landrew is more 2/3 than he is a 4 that people on here want him to play. I know there are those that say we can't rely on freshmen for a championship level team, but if you're not going to play them some in a backup role then what's the point in recruiting them? If they don't get to play at all then they'll be gone after the first year and they just took up a spot on your roster. This is the way of college basketball these days.

This news is good for Ball and it does break up the logjam at the 2-3 for next season that had people worried. They still need some pieces now to fill in the gaps.
