Not to disappoint everyone who's more concerned with coaching decision X or complaining about perceived snub Y, but UConn just win its 8th title!!!!!!

Was hoping the honeymoon might last longer than a few days.

Congrats to the players, coaches, and university! In particular, seniors Faris, Doty, and Buck.

When is the Big Monday game - did I miss something?!?!
Good OP.
I thought the game was brilliantly coached and the players were brilliant and the fans were brilliant, and New Orleans was brilliant, and life is very good.
Gr8tness has come to Uconn - enjoy it.

I agree to an extent. I wonder if this is a sign of the times for the fan base - we go bonkers for a few days, and then it's back to business as usual - what comes next year? etc etc? I'm as guilty of it as anyone. I love that we won and was super excited, but you can only talk about it so much. YAY WE WON THE NC! WOOHOO! Ok but how many times can i say that??!!

BTW I did immediately change my signature!! :) and i've watched the NC game 3 times and will do so again with my brother this wekeend!

I'm still enjoying it. It doesn't always happen...though it has happened an average of every other season the past 14 years. But in an era when people were talking parity and openly wondering whether UConn's run of dominance might be coming to a close...well, the conversation has changed to "Can Breanna win four NCs?"

But yes, might as well savor this one for a while longer- it's a long offseason.

I wake up each morning and say, wow, wasn't that great! The thrill of #8, and especially of Heather dribbling the length of the court to score the last basket, has yet to wear off.

Don't forget the WNBA draft tonight at eight o'clock eastern. Hopefully Kelly goes in the first round. Then the season starts soon.

I've been over scene after scene in my mind, and watched the game again too. Just enjoying it...and Stewie is a homie for me, which is an extra thrill. We'ren't the shots of her father going nuts in the stands great?

I loved that he seemed so happy and shocked by some of the stuff she was doing.

Softball is good, too.
No, no it's not. Not sure why they play softball anyway. Why not just play baseball? They play basketball, soccer, lacrosse, hockey, etc. pretty much the same. Why softball????

Or vice versa. Baseball action just leads to guys charging each other and breaking collar bones or lying about their drug usage and trying to cover it up by destroying evidence, something I've never seen in men's softball leagues where the guys are too pasted to even know when they get donked by a toss and they are also quite proud to display the evidence of their imbibing. The beer-belly slow-pitch softball leagues for the guys seems to be the essence of sports fun. Chug a few and then swing for a moonball over the 200-ft. fences. Besides, softball much more closely fits the earlier traditions of baseball back in the 1800s when they had one baseball for the whole game and by the later innings the thing was little more than a soft mishapen beanbag.

Lastly, the Summitt is in full softball threads mode, and I know they know something over there. In fact, I think the softball talk started over there back on Nov. 1.

Because girl's like a challenge and it's harder to hit fastpitch softball, just ask Teddy W.

Not talking about slow pitch leagues, heck girls already play in them. Talking about NCAA, high school. There's no reason girls can't play baseball. Why not let them???

Funny. But seriously, why not just have the girls play baseball??? I mean they did back in the 40's. I mean baseball is pretty slow as it is, but softball....egads.

I get the looking ahead. It's the ongoing criticism of decisions from the past season that bother me.

Well there is the American Women's Baseball Federation that has players competing in world championships for those women who really want the hardball diamond. There are many traditions that are gender oriented such as in gymnastics and sports like synchronized swimming and field hockey, which in the US generally means women players. Fast-pitch softball to a great extent at least gives women a sport of their own in which pundits are asking why they don't dunk more often or work the alley-oop to perfection. I know the Women's Football Alliance is starting to catch on in a few places, but generally it is tough for women's teams getting fans everywhere in direct competition with the guys.

Well-played, fastpitch softball is a gorgeous game. Because the mound is closer, and the bases are only 60 ft apart, it is a faster game in the infield, and, a lower-scoring game. "Small ball", bunting, stealing, slapping are all more important than in baseball, as is pinch-running. With the raised seams, and the under-hand delivery, a good softball pitcher can make the ball move up, down, in, out, sideways, and change speeds more readily than you can with a baseball. It has more of the feel of an old-style, National League game, maybe from the 60's with Gibson & Marichal.

Why women and girls get to play it, as opposed to baseball, I don't know - but, I'm glad!:D

Funny that you are watching these again- just scheduled date with my season ticket buddies to watch both semi and final again! I still have the games we lost to Baylor And Notre Dame- I think I will delete them now!

We lost games to Baylor and Notre Dame? I'm having a hard time remembering that now.

This Board is a treasure trove of well informed fans and it is understandable that after a few days of whoopee some analytical topics crop up. It is like our "hot stove" season, stoking the fire for next season.
