I disagree with this thought. I like the energy and dynamism that he brings off the bench, especially as long as he is going to be racking up fouls at an accelerated rate. Let him get his feet wet for a while off the bench, and once he proves he can play without fouling, worry about it then

Oh, I agree. But at some point you have to figure he may start. It's interesting, because we have a center by committee. Some nights PN will get major minutes, some nights TO will. It's a good luxury to have because the talent and athleticism are there.

when daniels passe to brimah in the first half for a dunk brimah went up strong, really strong and i hope that continues
As much as I liked Hasheem, he would have laid that in. Brimah has shown some impressive instincts and energy for such an inexperienced player.

KO found what I think many of us see as a special talent. I think his upside might be the greatest of UConn's unheralded bigs ever.

after Chukwu committed to Prov there was actually a poster on here who ripped KO and the staff for spending time(all of 2 months) recruiting Brimah in FL instead of spending that time recruiting the "hometown" player in Chukwu. I would love to hear what that poster, UConnNicki I believe, thinks now.
I'm pretty sure you're not talking about me, because, and my track record would back it up, I'd never rip Ollie (the man's a deity to me. My Facebook profile pic was me and him from when I met him on a campus visit until very recently. Ever had a conversation with Coach Ollie? Everything people say about the humility and great personality is 100% true) and I didn't follow Brimah's recruitment at all. In fact, when he committed, I was pretty happy at the thought of another raw African big man, because if you hadn't noticed, those seem to work out pretty well. So piss off. Chukwu has the ratings, but I never saw him as a necessity.

He's not talking about you. There's actually a poster with the handle UConniki. Last I saw he was griping about Rock Lubin, so let's hope he goes 2 for 2.

Dude, I wasn't talking about you, do you see an "i" at the end of your screenname? The poster I was referring to had a picture of his kids crying in his avatar, which was distinctive since all of his posts sounded like he was crying at his keyboard. Calm down with that "piss off" crap.

Whoops. Little drunk when I wrote that haha and I just slept though my 9 am lecture. I do apologize for that, but you can understand my anger at least, right? I don't want to be the cause of any animosity on this board, so I admit that I acted irrationally and was clearly wrong. A little over zealous on some blocks today but another solid performance. I like his composure. Thumps down some alley ooops and just goes back to work. No shouting or show boating. Runs back hard every single play.

Brimah still has a ways to go. He's a terrific shot blocker, but his footwork and instincts when he leaves the area right around the basket are weak. Not to mention his rebounding skills are weak. He is gonna be a good one for sure, but he's not there yet.

His hands/reactions get a little worse the trickier the play gets. The no looks and thread the needles are tough on him. The alleyoops or dump offs on the break, he catches and he looks very fluid (compared to Emeka or Thabeet at the same age). Similarly, when he can go get the rebound in one fluid jump, he looks impressive. When bodies are jostling or there's a deflection, he doesn't react as well. Thabeet was the same way, but that's one area Emeka has them both beat. His rebounding was as impressive as his shotblocking coming out of the chute.

Why don't we try zone defense once in a while. With Brimah down low it would be a difficult match for any team.

Because we have never, ever been a zone team. And God willing, never will.

We played it a bit in the 2nd half. Would be interesting to see...

Was definitely not expecting the announcers to make the comparison. Pretty crazy some of the things he already does on a world class level. If he can learn when to go for the block vs box out than that will greatly improve his impact on the game. He is a very unique player for sure.

Until this year I'm guessing Brimahs concept of defense was roam around and block shots. I'm happy with where he's at, interested to see how fast he can adjust to stronger bodies pushing him around.
