Sure they all talk about him like that when not in his presence, but I have never seen a whole group acting like that around him before.

I can’t find pictures of the team mobbing Geno and messing up his hair after a big win or the one with the team holding up pictures of Genoa’s face or a stick but remember them clearly.

Geno has said how more difficult it is to connect to a team as the programs accomplishments grow and the age gap grows so I never thought it would be possible such close connections could be made with such a large freshman class. I think as in many areas, Paige led the way forging a really collaborative fun and successful relationship that allowed the others to follow.

I also think the contrast of this group to those directly prior to the present group highlights the difference. I would have to go back to Steffi for a player who was a true extrovert. The Stewie, Morgan Moriah years and the Lou Pheesa groups and the Megan Crystal groups were more serious personalities.

I think a lot of people don’t know how personable and likable Geno is. The raving lunatic that prowled the sidelines in his younger years was his work persona, not his total personality. The guy is incredibly charismatic. His teams have always loved him, even the pros.

It’s been a lot of fun looking back at these silly times with Big G
