Up 25 on the EDD-less Sky in Chicago... 11 point loss. Fowles with a 20-20 game, Prince unstoppable in the 4th.

The biggest mistake they made was getting rid of Thiebeault. But at least they can console themselves with a guaranteed top 4 pick in the next draft. it should be a very strong class.

Despite her won-loss record and the praise given to her, I have never been impressed with Donovan as a coach. IMO, the Sun management made a huge mistake hiring her.

I understand a good won-loss record is not the important measure of a coach. Nor is winning a championship. But why was Mike, who had a pretty good won-loss record and NO championship, a better coach?

I'm not defending Donovan nor the Sun's season. The team she inherited has suffered injuries and seems not to have the inner fortitude to work together and through the challenges those injuries have presented.

But there were many folks who thought M.T. had lost the team's ear and could not, like a certain Devil coach, win "the big one." Is that what folks want from a coach?

The team is not crazy about her either.

Player commitment and performance? Player development? Execution?

The Sun were contenders year-in and year-out with Thibault. To say this guy will never win the title despite constantly being in the mix was stupid. Keeping a team in the mix even after the roster turns over is the sign of a good coach, a coach you want to keep. They would have won eventually. They used to say the Calhoun would never win.

You have to make the playoffs before you can win the playoffs.

Yeah, I watched this game and I am really at a loss for words. Chicago did a great job limiting the Sun rebounds. They also forced and were helped out by a bunch of terrible Sun passes. I am really surprised that Kelly wasn't used on Prince more during the game. If she was on her, it was a switch or in transition, never as an assignment. The offense can't seem to get Tina in a position to be an effective scorer - and against Fowles that is never easy, but dang.

It was really the poor passing of the Sun that allowed the Sky too many easy transition buckets late in the game that added to the Sky's spark. The Sun literally handed them the game over and over again.

The way the Sun played yesterday, reminded me of how the Mercury played when Corey Gaines was coach. Big lead and the lose game.

I wonder if Donovan has this team's ear...certainly there have been injuries, but I also then look at what Adler has been doing with Seattle having some of their stars out for the season. Is it that it takes a year or two for a team to buy into a coaches vision? I should hope not...

What is bothersome to me is that I've not yet seen anything resembling a team offense. My wife even commented last night that it appears the Sun's offensive scheme involves throwing the ball to somebody and seeing what they can do one-on-one. Missed shots are one thing, not running an offense is a completely different kettle of fish

Agreed. There are very few times that you can see an actual play being ran. Tina is shooting 10% lower from the field this year.

Having a rotation of people can't be helping, but I expected more.

This would seem to be borne out by the assist numbers. In the Sun's last three games the percentage
of made baskets that were assisted have been 48%, 27%, and 44%.

By comparison, the UConn women typically assist on about 2/3 of their baskets.

Overall this season the Sun have assisted on 51% of their baskets. I think the absence of
Kara Lawson from the lineup for much of the second half of the season has really hurt
the team offense.
