I'm surprised that Drexel beat JMU. How good is Drexel? They lost by 13 at Seton Hall. But they look much better than that.

At first, I thought that Drexel was very overmatched. The score is now 14-12 Drexel up. Drexel's defense looks good and they have hit from the arc. They are from Philly after all. This could be a close one.

EDD with a block, then has her shot blocked.

14-14 with 7:00 in the half.

Del up 18-14. They are really struggling against the zone. Both teams shooting under 30%.

I really like Danielle Parker for UDel.

Like a lot of teams, UDel is struggling against the zone. EDD is 4-12, having missed several contested shots in close. UDel up at the half, 20-16.

UDel looked good against UNCW's man-to-man defense yesterday. Not so today. They may be tense because it is the championship game.

As we saw in several conferences, not pretty basketball. Low scoring with points at a premium. Both teams are playing hard. UDel would get an at-large bid with a loss. Drexel might not make the WNIT. This is the Dragon's big chance.

.-.
They are also struggling with a complete lack of whistles in this game.... Yesterday the refs showed UNCW that a physical game wasn't going to be allowed, and they had no plan B on defense. Today Drexel is able to be as physical as it wants.

This would not be the first time Delaware has struggled to score against a team that doesn't have near the talent or defensive intensity they will face in the tourney. They may turn it around in the second half, but them's the facts.

If they played in a tougher league, they'd still be in the tourney easily this year, but they'd have an intriguing mix of good wins and bad losses.

Yeah, very few foul calls today, but I haven't seen many missed.

Yesterday, there was an obvious one when EDD got shoved in the back as she made a layup. Should have been an and-1. I guess they figured that UDel got points, so no need for a call.

How many teams have we seen struggling to score this year? Seems like everyone in several minute stretches. Most for an entire game, us included.
I forget who the opponent was, but UDel does have a 40-39 win this year.

That 40-39 win was also Drexel. These teams know each other well.

Guess it'll take the actual tournament to convince Alex that UD is a good team.

EDD with 2 straight jumpers when she had a little space. That's her forte.

UDel up by 7 after Drexel hits a 3.

your defensiveness regarding anything related to UD or EDD is really bizarre. Are you related to someone on that team?

Where on earth did I say they weren't a "good team"?

And yes, it was against Drexel. And no, the fact they "know each other well" is not an excuse.

If they played in a better league, they'd face better teams that know one another well. And they'd lose some of those games. If the athletes that Drexel fields can hold UD to 40 points, what would Rutgers or Georgetown do? Conversely, they'd play teams like Maryland that would be confident they could outscore UD- and they'd sometimes be wrong.

But sure- it was totally a command performance to secure a one-point win over Drexel.

Del up by 14 with 10:10 to go.

They have 21 in under 10 mins after 20 in the first half.

.-.
Alex is right. If UDel played in the BE, they would have more losses. But they would be pushed more and and might develop more and be a better team.

Carra looks like the kind of player that Harry Peretta would just love.

UDel up 16 with 7:48 to go. Drexel does not have enough offense to come back.

Akeema Richards just wowed the crowd by dribbling thru the press.

In the wonderful world of midmajor wbb, W-GB is once again struggling with Detroit.

Don't know if anyone else has checked out Florida Gulf Coast, but I took a look at their archived A-Sun tourney games on ESPN3, and they may be an unpleasant surprise for some unsuspecting first round higher seed. They feature three seniors, so they'll be down for a couple years after this, but they have a really shining frosh, 6-3 Whitney Knight that...well, I'm not exactly sure what her top end is, but it's really high.

Whitney could make it a bad Knight for the opponent.

If any of Mel's toughness rubbed off, her team must play hard.

53 - 21 Del with 3+ to go. EDD with 27 & 10.

Very frustrating watching EDD play against this level of talent. I can only imagine how UCONN fans feel. That is so much talent to be on the floor with players who obviously cannot challenge her. I would love to see her play against teams like UCONN, Notre Dame, Stanford and Tennessee to see how good she truly is. Sorry to bunch UCONN in with UT. I know that they played MD but MD is ranked 21st in the nation in FG% defense and not even in the top 50 in points allowed per game.

It is hard for me to even compare her stats to Nneka's and BG's due to the talent level she is facing.

Since EDD will never win a championship does that mean that she cannot be considered as one of the best to ever play the game?

EDD will not win a NCAA title, but she might break Jackie Stiles' scoring record, get 1 or 2 Olympic gold medals, and be a WNBA All-Star. If NCAA titles are what matters, Griner hasn't done anything yet. You guys are the favorites, but the Final Four could be very tough. Suppose that BG gets none. :)

Well -- the opponents talent level has no bearing on Free throw shooting; and Elena is surely one of the best FT shooters in NCAA and high school history.

I have been skeptical of their high ranking until today.
Count me as still skeptical of it. Grossly over-ranked as a top 10 team.

Got that way just by winning and winning and winning against . . . nobody of any consequence other than an early home ambush of PSU. Scored some points in losing to defensively challenged MD. Other than that, simply haven't played anyone in the top 25.

Outstanding among their mid-major peers and should win a couple of games in the NCAAs. But I expect them to go down to the first legit top-25 team they encounter.
