CSN is covering both the Colonial semifinal games....UDel at 12:00.
The final tomorrow is on the same station....12:30 the listing says.

IMO: they probably get a 3 seed if they win out....possibly drop to a 4 if they lose today or tomorrow.
A 4 seed might lead to a fascinating sweet 16 game with UConn in Rhode Island.
Go UDel!

As we speak I hope the UDel AD is poking around to upgrade their non-conference schedule for next year....maybe including a call to Geno. UDel has all 5 starters back next year...should be one very tough out a year from now. This year too if EDD plays well and her teammates hit open shots as defenses collapse on the possible NPOY.

It's on Direct TV Channel 630.

Danny is here. Ernie is here. Milford is here. Elena is here.

Let's go Blue Hens.

Watching EDD in warm-ups is like watching Bill Bradley or Kaleena Lewis. Everything goes in.

Crowd of a few thousand. Heavily UDel.

Elena is probably not the best baller in the arena. Cynthia Cooper-Dyke is the UNCW coach.

UDel has more talent than last year due to transfers. Ok size. Some balance.

Game does not have UConn speed.

EDD uses her length underneath for blocks and shot alteration.

On offense, she takes a (long) step to get closer to the hoop. Given her shooting, I wonder if an open 8-footer may not be better than a contested 5-footer.

I think it was a walk on the left handed layup, but her strides are huge.

UNCW is trying to play her straight up. That won't work. JMU did a pretty good job last year by being physical.

Several inches short on a wide open trey. Unusual.

Just missed a FT. OMG.

20-8. EDD gets a break. I think they can play UNCW even without her.

Other than Elena, I'd rate the UDel talent as very roughly comparable to Syracuse or Villanova--maybe middle of the Big East. I think their starters could play in a stronger league. Elena can play in any league.

I like EDD shooting when she goes straight up better than on the move.

EDD played about 14 mins, so she'll be rested for the finals.

Score is 42-13 at the half. Elena has 11 on 4-9 shooting.

OOC, why is the tourney in Upper Malboro, MD?
And why is there an arena in Upper Marlboro, MD? What is it used for?

VG--I think it is used mostly for horse shows. The DC area is roughly the geographic center for the conference. The arena is about 18 miles from downtown DC and is the right size. Maybe 6,000 or so seats. About half full today.

The talent level of Delaware is MUCH HIGHER than I expected. And they have a lot of depth. When Elena takes a rest, the team keeps right on scoring. They have an efficient half-court offense. They pass the ball well. Lots of assists. They are smart in how they use Elena. She is their best player; but they integrate her well in a balanced offense. Good job by Tina Martin!!

I have been skeptical of their high ranking until today. They should win some games in the NCAA Tourney. And I'll be rooting for them unless they get to play UConn.

64-34 inside of 3:00.

EDD had 15 points, 7 boards, and 3 blocks in about 20 minutes.

Much better competition tomorrow.

A few more thoughts.

The arena is the Show Place Arena, and the architecture is clearly horse race track oriented.

I still would like to see Elena get a screen. Most of her offense is one on one, but I agree with OC. The passing is very good. Whether it is coaching or smart players, they do a good job. I think Maryland was too athletic and physical for them, but physically the Terps are as good as anyone. UNCW was overwhelmed today. JMU, if they win the second game, will give UDel a much better game.

Don't pooh-pooh UDel. We've seen Miami, Maryland, TAMU and other have horrendous games this year. UDel had one very close win and one close loss to a very good Maryland team on the road. Their ranking is about right. I think they struggle against top 10-12, but beat everyone else. They are not fast enough to compete with us, but their half court offense and ball movement are very good. They lead the nation in FT percentage. And, as Blake notes, all the starters are back next year.
