I don't have time to watch much cbb outside of UConn. I'm a dad of 2 youngens with a full time gig. I'm lucky I get to carve out time to watch every uconn men + women's game.

Has this board really watched Florida enough to have a real grasp on their "dominance"? Especially as it compares to us.

Are we really watching all these games? Or are we pretending to know based on carefully cullled together bits from respected writers?

I'm trying to bring a little more confidence to the BY because I, for one, have zero clue how today is gonna turn out.

I’ve watched them and I’m scared. This Gator team is a lot better than any team we’ve played. They have 4 bigs who are all fairly equal in talent and can play 15-20 minutes each and crash the boards hard, they’re athletic and can shoot it too. Richards is someone we don’t have a good answer for defensively while the 2 guards Martin and Clayton are physical and experienced.

Let’s put it this way, we need everyone to have a very good game, maybe career games to get a W. We need our bigs to stay out of foul trouble :( and need to guard people like never before.

-8.5??

Has this board really watched Florida? or are we listening to all the chatter and reading all the blogs and pretending that we are basing our opinions on 1st hand Knowledge?

There are a lot of posters on here who comment on every team as if they're experts. Unless your full time gig is a cbb analyst, how do you have time to make an informed post on teams like Missouri or Georgia or Florida for that matter?

Are we really watching all these games? Or are we pretending to be experts based on carefully cullled together bits from respected writers?

The main thrust of this post is, we know uconn. We don't know any other team as much as we know uconn (except for maybe @HuskyHawk)

So instead of pretending to know how good Florida is because you watched the SEC tourney like everyone else, and read kenpom, like everyone else, admit you know nothing and default to supporting your blue blood like a true fan.
I don't have a clue what the point of this post is.

Yeah, every forum is filled with overconfident know-it-alls. That will never change because that's how the human brain is structured to work. If you want to feel real deep down existential dread, study the physical processes that guide human decisions. We're doomed, friends. And that's not a joke.

Yeah. My initial post was quite hazy. Don't drink and post.

But....I do believe that it's hard to know how two different high level teams from different conferences, all with nba talent, will matchup unless we REALLY know the other team. This level of Florida chatter seemed to just gain traction a month ago.
We have a full season of games to reflect on for both teams, and even if we don't watch the games directly, the results do speak loud and clear.

It's college basketball in March, so on any given Sunday...

But it'll take something special. There's nothing defeatist about admitting that.

I’ve watched enough to be terrified. Florida should have the top 2 players on the court with their backcourt. That is what scares me the most, two AMAZING scorers at G. Diarra will do what he can with one (Clayton), but what do we do with the other (Martin)?

They are all high effort, they are all high energy, and they are all great rebounders

In a normal world, UF would crush and 8.5 would be generous for us. But it’s March, the month where abnormality happens every day. With some magic, anything can happen

Good lord all you “terrified” and “scared” weenies drive me up a wall.

Yes, Florida is a better team with lots of talent.

Yes, we’ll need to play our A game to stand a chance. And they’ll have to not play their A game.

But they’ve lost 4 games. They can lose one more.

It’s a damn basketball game. Blow the whistle, throw the ball in the air, and let’s see what happens.

Right, I'm not scared at all it's a basketball game. We don't beat ourselves we stand a far better chance. If your gonna foul then make it count put them onto the floor.

I get that. This synopsis makes sense to me.

Also, Of teams that I do watch- like Creighton and st johns- the way they both looked against sec teams yesterday was the reverse of what I expected.

St johns was muzzled and was even more inefficient on offense than they were all year.

Creighton surprised me and hung hard with the #1 seed.

It's so hard to speak definitively of anything in march.

They need to go out there being mad. That look of anger by AK when he picked up that offensive foul last game then went off. That anger needs to be there from the beginning, from everyone.

I've only seen highlights and they look quite good. Clayton was one of the best players on the court when he was with Iona two years ago and gives me serious Bazz vibes.

I believe we can beat anyone. To beat Florida we need at least two of our scorers (Liam, AK, Solo) to shoot the ball well and our bigs have to stay out of foul trouble. It's doable, but I'm honestly not sure if we've had a game this year where all of those elements have gone together.

On the other side, they have three, uber experienced, perimeter guys who can score. We maybe have one perimeter guy who defends adequately against the bounce and that guy is playing on one leg and will be checking Clayton who is really crafty. So, that's problematic. We have to avoid letting their two or three have a Jamiya Neal game and go nuts.

Before the bracket was announced I convinced myself Florida was going to win the NC after watching them. Now we have to face them. If we play them 10 times, maybe we can beat them twice. Perhaps today is one of those tines? Why not? Maybe Liam, Alex, and Solo shoot 3s well and we play terrific defense. I know they will play hard today, after seeing what happened to the Johnies. Remember we are still the Champs until we aren't.

This is where the bench needs to step up. Hurley did not sub much against the sooners. This is going to be a much different opponent that we have faced all year. It will be interesting what we are going to do on D.

I can see Ross getting some minutes today definitely. I don't think Nowell will get any. Reed will play major minutes off the bench. Stewart will play, and Mahaney.
