Correct. 28 and he's been absolutely terrible since he was 25 (end of 2009). He made one appearance for a team in the Dominican League this past winter and got rocked. Hasn't been signed by anyone.

The last time I saw him was the 2009 ALCS, he was so bad that he couldnt even make a throw to first base, it went over the 1B head and into right field. How did he fall off the ledge that much.

Looks like he is a free agent (according to Baseball-Reference.com). He'll probably find some job when teams need starting pitching badly.

It is all mental with Kazmir. I feel for the player as he had a good career ahead of him when everything went haywire

It's definitely not mental. It's his mechanics. The Mets (Rick Peterson) pegged him for poor mechanics years ago. He has nothing on his pitches anymore.

I saw the collapse first hand. Its lack of velocity and location. He is a tiny guy who has a brutal motion, lots of stress on the arm. I'm glad Tampa moved him for some value right before the wheels came off.

Word is he clocked in at 96 mph today v. the A's. He struck out 10 and gave up two hits over 6 innings.

On May 4th he beat the Twinks by going 6 innings and whiffing 7 guys. Gave up two runs.

On April 27 he lost to the Royals 3-2 and went 5 innings, giving up 2 runs.

He was drubbed by the 'stros in his debut outing on April 20.

LAst three game totals: 17 innings, 4 runs allowed. 21 ks to 3 bbs. 2-1 record

At this point isn't this more notable for being a Mets move that did not get MORE disastrous as time goes on?

Any rumors that it is time for this ownership group to sell? I'd think that's the only way to both make a profit on their mistakes and allow the team to put those mistakes in the rearview (i.e. any new ownership group is requiring the old to pay Bobby Bonilla).

I haven't heard a single rumor....and I'm not sure why they would sell now. They've been through the bad contracts, they have good young talent, a decent roster of arms in the minors. Harvey and Wheeler are a potential 1-2 (and cheap, for now).

The hard part would look to be over for this ownership.

I think they are at rock bottom with some signs (Harvey) of emerging, but this slog of a season with dwindling attendance has to be difficult. So although I'm not certain that the hard part is over it'd clearly be poor timing to sell. That said wouldn't you welcome/want/jump for joy to have new ownership?

Listen. I'm a Mets and a Jets fan. I'd welcome anything that I thought would push either franchise closer to contending for a title. It's easier to root for Harvey and Wheeler to lead the path to more moves and a title in a few years than it is rooting for a kajillion dollar sale and complete restructure of the ownership foundation.

The Kaz is back at the stadium tonight. I would love to see him toss a gem.

Bump. Semi dominating for Oakland.

Meanwhile...Victor Zambrano remains retired (since 2007)...

I haven't watched a lick of baseball all year. Had a friend over last night and threw on the Sox game. I almost died. He looked really good. Seems he developed a little changeup. He looked a little like a poor man's Glavine in some spots. Bring him back to the Mets!!!

Scott Kazmir just loves baseball. He's like the Cedric Ceballos of MLB. And I've got him 2nd only to Jesus in terms of most impressive coming back from the dead.

Kazmir faces the Mets Tuesday night in CitiField. The Deepster will be tuned in!

He looked very good against the Sox last week. It seems that his problem is repeating his motion but when he is able to that he has outstanding stuff.

Did not see it but saw the numbers. Ugly.

Mets are his kryptonite.

Separate note...nice to see that D'Anaud hit a HR in first game back from minors...he crushed it in Vegas.
