had a better first ten minutes than the first quarter against DePaul?

That's a really hard question to answer. Maybe the first 10 minutes against Duke in 2011? I was at Gampel and started chortling.

You mean enroute to plundering Texas. (March 28, 2015 - Sweet Sixteen). Sorry, I don't know how to screen grab or whatever. You'll find it at Uconnhuskygames.com.

I like those chortling games.

I think we beat Purdue by about 100-50 in Maya's first year. I was chortling every time Maya made a shot. And that was quite often.

Cannot remember the exact score but the first Gameday live for women matching undefeated #1 Uconn 16-0 against undefeated #3 ND 15-0 at Gamble - all that hype and .... OK - I had to research it: jan 16, 2010
ND was down 17-2 after the first 5:40, they were down 24-4 at 7:29, 36-10 at 14:21. Uconn led 42-19 at the half and finished 70-46 to win their 56th in a row and deny Muffet her 600th win. It may not have been quite the decimation that some of these other games were - but is was one of the most satisfying wins I can remember in one of the most hyped WCBB regular season games since Uconn/TN stopped playing. Watching the Digger eat humble pie was classic and Dick Vitale trying to cover the women and being left speechless by the domination! ND had been scoring 82.4 points a game coming in.

Check out Stewey and her dad sitting in the stands at the 9:50 mark of this ND vs UCONN telecast.

Has any other UCONN player had a better first 10 minutes (quarter) than Kia did? 19 points, I believe. Also 33 points before sitting out the 4th quarter. Not sure how many minutes Maya played against Syracuse when she scored over 40.

First half of NCAA tourney game vs ODU in, um, 2002?

UConn dominates ODU in impressive fashion | CJOnline.com
Making their first 13 shots is very impressive.

Classic Geno:

During the weekend, Old Dominion coach Wendy Larry, whose team lost to the Huskies by 14 in December but had won 21 in row, said: "We're in a position now to ruin parties."

To which UConn coach Geno Auriemma jokingly retorted: "Party crashers usually get beat up or arrested, don't they?"

I think we destroyed Temple in Norfolk during Maya's career. The halftime score was about 50-15. The kids whom Tonya had coached showed her how well she had done.

I admit my memory isn't what it was, so it may shade my impulse to live in the moment. But I have to say that this year's team has been more exciting than I remember for a long while!

One other benefit of the dampened memory, is that I can enjoy the historic games on the huskies game site almost as new!

The cool thing there is that after three quarters it was Kia 33, DePaul 30.

Yet another advantage to losing one's memory! :p

I have another confession. I have stated preiviously that this is one of the most exciting seasons I've had watching The UConn. Bronxjeff and I also have the same mental failings and enjoy historic games for the same reasons. 3 cheers for our golden years.

Great thing about a game like that is that it gives the kids a taste for blood. Some of them may have remembered from last year, sure, but that was last year's team. They now how their own way of taking apart "the enemy." Geno can say at practice: "see what I mean? see how it works when you play like you practice?" and the kids will know what he's talking about. It's all about trust and confidence, Geno's mantras for 2016/17.
