So Duke should lose most of their roster, correct?

Flagg, Maluach and Kneuppel are projected lottery picks, so they’re probably gone.

I’ve seen Evans and Proctor as projected second round picks. So TBD whether those guys go or stay.

Sion James and Mason Gillis are seniors so they’re graduating.

So depending on those draft “tweeners,” Duke could be losing about 90% of their scoring and rebounding, right?

If Houston had hit half the shots they normally do they would have won by over 20. I knew this Houston team could beat Dook because they way they play the game. Their PG has more moxie than all those we watch and hear about regularly. And they have the best coach in the college game.
Sampson being the best coach in the college game is laughable

He’s an elite coach. He gets way more out of his teams than the sum of the parts.

But that comment he made on the court after the game about he doesn’t care if you win or lose if you stop trying you’ve lost made me throw up in my mouth a bit, and makes me consider taking the first statement back.

I admit I fell asleep as there was no way I was going to watch Dook celebrate. Woke up this morning and promised my son I would get him breakfast this morning as he is an early riser and I usually let my wife sleep in on Sunday. Got in my car turned on Sirius XM Mad Dog radio and found out Dook choked.

Although I am sad I missed it live, this morning I got to feel how Christmas morning feels for a kid again.

I have not been this unexpectedly happy when waking up as I was today since I was a kid and there was a ten speed bike next to the Christmas tree.

Dook and Scheyerless get what I hoped they would get and it is a beautiful morning.
I didn’t know until this morning, either. You nailed it - I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. I can’t stop smiling!

Really a consequence of playing in the ACC. That Toy Poodle League didn't challenge them enough, and when Houston wouldn't quit like the rest of their league did, they had to keep expending energy to hold them off until finally the tank went empty.
bingo. they were gassed in the last ten minutes, and it's becasue they were not physically prepared to play a team of this caliber.

I mean I hate Duke but let’s be real this kid is the goods. If they had to play again tomorrow I’m betting a mortgage payment on Duke covering
Duke had more talent and should have won. The ACC's general weakness, and Scheyer's weaknesses as a coach, led to this. Scheyer did not seem ready for this particular moment, and everyone in the world knew what was going to happen on the final 68-67 play. It's a lot easier to defend when you know what is coming.

I agree that was a bad foul called on Cooper Flagg but I rationalized it with the bad call on the late game Houston turnover that was really Kon Knueppel kicking the ball out of bounds. Hope this provides a different perspective on the officiating and how it may - or may not - have impacted the outcome of the game. Dook had plenty of chances but simply withered.
here's the thing.....houston already had possession by the time the foul was called. yeah, maybe they have to run offense rather than shooting freethrows, but the way they were scoring, they were probably going to get a bucke tanyway.

If he chose UConn instead of Dook he would now be a national champion. But he did not. And that is a great thing. He trolled us by showing up at that football game and getting us to pay for an official visit.

Oh well karma is a SOB. I will never root for Cooper Flagg don’t care where he plays. He became Laetner to me once he pulled that BS on visiting us while Dook was going to crush us in a football game.

No matter what we are UConn and I feel nothing but joy in Dook’s misery.

Sampson is in Tier 1 along with Hurley and Pitino. I may be forgetting someone, but those three stand above everyone else IMO. Izzo might be alone in Tier 2, but I can be convinced otherwise (I can be convinced to put him lower, but not along with those 3).

Short term memory issues?

All the evidence and whispers were not that he trolled us. I do think Danny nearly pulled it off. Hard when he grew up a Duke fan and you know the Duke hype machine is going to generate a huge brand. We're not on their level in that.

But yeah, much as I loved McNeeley, if you Flagg replaced him we're playing Monday night.

Exactly. The narrative that the foul call decided the game is a joke.

They only had more talent because their dark money budget is far higher than everyone else’s budget, I’m reading $35 Million or so, and I’m assuming most is going to the basketball team. Those elite donors aren’t going to tolerate spending $20-30 Million for a new team of 5 star recruits and transfer every year, only to get beat consistently beat by older, more experienced teams with better coaches. Scheyer will be the first to go.

I was watching a segment on ESPN earlier today about all the Mainers who suddenly became Duke fans because of Flagg. I hope they don’t twist an ankle hopping off the bandwagon.
I hope they wave to Storrs as they drive home.

There is no way to know what was in his head. Of course everyone close to situation is going to say he did not troll us. It would be ludicrous to even hint at that being the case.

But I come from the school of if it walks like a Dook, talks like a Dook than it is a Dook.

Or more simply put actions speak way louder than words.

Of course we want to think our guy almost pulled the rug out from Dook. The only person that will ever now the real truth is Flagg.

But as I have said karma is a SOB.

I'm already tired of hearing about the foul on Flagg after the missed free throw.

That was not a similar to, for example, Rumeal Robinson.

There were 20 seconds left with Duke up one. The worst (realistic) possibility for Duke (due to the foul call) would be down one with a little less than 20 seconds. Without the foul, Houston would have been in that situation.

I know without question that if any of our championship teams had that situation, inbounding the ball after a made free throw, down one, just under 20 seconds left, we win that game by making a go ahead basket with less than four seconds left.

As much as I dislike Duke, Cooper is the real deal, and it's pretty said that a young kid has to go through something like this. Coach would be a different story. AI can be up.
