That's the current rumor.

Leaving DC for Auburn-Opelika, AL metropolis. Couldn't pay me enough to do that.

Auburn is only two hours from Atlanta which means recruiting could be fertile with a decent coach (especially with Tennessee's situation being uncertain) AND you could live there for much of the year. It wouldn't be that bad.

Not sure TWF could bring GT much further along as a program than she has aready. If Auburn is making her an attractive offer, might be wise to jump on it.

At least the SEC will be around in a few years.

I can't speak for that area specifically but in general, the south seems to get a bad rap that just isn't justified. Sally Bell's hometown of Dublin, Georgia--sure. I lived there and it sucked. But Atlanta, I really liked. And Huntsville, I really loved. I'm proud of that fact that Bridget is an Alabama native. ;)

On the other hand, I really hate Iowa and I finally figured out what would make me want to stay here--I had a dream that my husband took a job in New London. You couldn't pay me enough to live that close to my mother-in-law again. ;) Ha!

In the meantime, I'm counting down the days (weeks, months, years, whatever) until I can move back down south.

Dublin is an exciting town. When I lived in Atlanta, I would drive through it at a high rate of speed en route to Savannah. One time, I even stopped at the Cracker Barrel.

As long as you keep Bridget in the northern part of AL, you will keep her from learning the dumb joke everyone I've ever met from the southern part of the state says when you aske where they're from: "Yea, I'm from L.A...Lower Alabama!" Apparently, this is unendingly funny. For whatever reason, I managed to cease to be amused after the 135th time I heard it.

The Big East conference is not for every coach or every player.........Good luck at Auburn next season, if true.

Terri W-F is Boo Williams sister. She'll be able to recruit the greater DC area no matter where she's located. Adding the Deep South as a recruiting area would be a big plus.

WOW. I'd never heard of anyone who'd HEARD of Dublin, let alone stopped there. ;) Meh, we went where the jobs were.

I'd never heard the LA joke. That's kind of... stupid. :p

Actually, what I'm looking forward to is Kiah Stokes's homecoming. I missed Maya's because we left Atlanta to soon. And when we moved to Iowa, I wasn't familiar enough with the geography to know where Marion is. I kept thinking Des Moines area, not Cedar Rapids. So I'm hoping it means that her homecoming will be at U of I, which is 45 minutes from me. (I'm in the Iowa City area every week anyway because Bridget does gymnastics out that way.)

I have the impression that the Hoyas' A.D. treated the woman's basketball team & coaches as secondary vs the Thompsons' mens team. I think it may be a wise move for the coach to push on.

There is the whole "conference stability" thing for BEast coaches to consider, too. Do G'town, 'Nova, PC, Seton Hall, SJU et all really want to end up in a Catholic, all-basketball league? At least the SEC is stable.

Wow. I feel really badly for Sugar Rogers...isn't she a senior next year? I read an article about her and it seemed her and Flournoy were really close. That's gotta be tough. So now the Georgetown job is open too? That's not a bad group to come in and start a new era with!

I use to have to spend time in Atlanta in the courts for clients of mine and I have never seen a more parochial, old boy flat out thang as bad short of New Orleans, but they do have nice shops for the ladies and some good looking ladies for...well nevermind.

Dude, Atlanta rocks. Amazingly low cost of living for a metro area its size, easy to get around IF (and only if) you live in the city itself, great sports bars, great shopping (I lived four blocks from Phipps and Lenox Square Malls), cigar clubs, spectacular aquarium, my MBA alma mater (Emory) is there, celebrity sightings a-plenty, etc.

Different kind of town once you have kids, but relative to where I was in my life at the time, I can't imagine a more perfect place to have lived.

yeah, I know it rocks. When I had some local rube of a judge sipping coke and chewing gum give my client a lead pipe I would go hang out in a great Cigar bar and get hit on by some very cute, sophisticated women of the night.

Its truly the hub of the Southeast.... the whole South if you exclude Texas. I would say 75% of the people around my age to slightly younger have either moved to Atlanta, or considered moving there. I had been to Atlanta as a kid...briefly considered going to Georgia Tech.. and rode through Atlanta on the way to my eventual choice of college..... but never really thought anything about the city beyond that. I visited again back in 1998 and was amazed at all Atlanta had and offered. Been there quite a bit since.. though not since 2008.

Terri W. Flournoy is gone.......And I dont think it had much to do with the stability of the BE. But a lot to do with the green. As in $$Dollars. The Washington Post stated that she signed a 5-year contract extension in June 2010. So her resignation had nothing to do with $$financial stability. The Post speculated that her assistant Keith Brown , who has been an assistant for the past 5 years , and Virginia assistant Cory McNeill , are being considered for the job.

Outside of Atlanta the traffic sucks, really, really bad (75, 85, 285).

However when I lived down there many many years ago, it wasn't too bad (but then again I didn't drive either??). But I loved it down there. People were so friendly, nice weather. Lot's to do. Braves, Flames, Falcons, Cyclorama, Six Flags, short trip up to Lookout Mountain, Blue Ridge mountains, Rock City, Ruby Falls.

This is a good move for Coach Flournoy and will probably enable her to take more advantage of her being the sister to Boo Williams. She'll have more access to recruits. I suspect it will be easier to get recruits to sign to attend Auburn then what Georgetown is. Also Auburn has significantly more resources and appear willing to spend them to get a good women's basketball program. It will take her a couple of years before she's competing with LSU and Kentucky in their efforts to replace Tenn as the leader of the SEC when it comes to Women's Basketball. It won't be an easy task, but with as talented as the 2013 class is supposed to be, if she gets any of the elite players she'll be on her way.

Kentucky won't be easy to pass, as they seem to be getting in on more elite players and if they get an elite post player they'll be a much more dangerous team. I follow the tweets of a number of the mover and shakers in WBB and noticed that Mike Flynn of AAU fame, spent a considerable amount of time with the Kentucky coaching staff during the Final Four. Mitchell was able to sign a couple of Apache players as he had a good relationship with him and I suspect in the next year or two, we'll see him sign Philly Belle players as well. Matt Insell being an assistant there helps too, as he and his family have many close ties to the elite AAU programs. Kentucky will make a Final Four soon and if they get lucky it could be as early as next year. They need a Number one seed and they'll be on there way.

If we are to project the number one seeds for next year, I would have Baylor and UConn as the prohibitive favorites to get one. Closely followed by either Duke and/or Maryland. Then I think any of the following teams could break through to get one, Stanford because of typically weak PAC 12 and they will have a great won/loss record, Kentucky, Penn State Notre Dame and Tenn.
