At any level, college or pros.

I was reading about how Elgin Baylor had somehow escaped ever winning a championship. He went to the final 4 in college and lost, then lost 8 NBA Finals with the Lakers, they won again the year after he retired.

Dan Marino and Barry Sanders come to mind, any others?

It was worse then that for Elgin. He retired early in the season when they won the title (first Laker title in LA. 1971-1972 season).

NHL- Jeremy Roenick, Henrik Lunquist

MLB- Bonds, Trout, Ken Griffey Jr, Tony Gwynn, Ichiro, Roy Halladay

NBA- Barkley, Malone, Stockton, Nash, Ewing, Elgin Baylor

NFL- Marino, Barry Sanders, Tony Gonzalez, Bruce Matthew's, Anthony Munoz, Randy Moss, Junior Seau

I'm very curious as to how the author decided to order that list.

Ted Williams should be among the top two or three names, not #25.

Anyone that's ever played Tecmo Bowl 1989 knows Bo was the greatest athlete ever.
I was born too early for Techmo bowl but Bo was a ridiculous athlete on the field as well.

I'm convinced that if he (at the right age) was willing to train for it he would have been able to blow anyone away in the decathlon.

The combination of size and speed was mind boggling and being able to excel at the fine motor skill aspects of baseball with that size and speed is beyond comprehension.

They could have titled this thread The Greatest Athlete and Bo would have been my answer.

And.i believe his team lost a close one in the college championship game…they won their first game.

This is valid. I also dont think most people know that it actually took 9 men to bring Kevin Mack to the ground, or that john offerdahl was apparently the best linebacker in the league. Tecmo bowl taught me all I know.
Don’t think people ever realized that Jerry Ball was just as dominant as Bo. If you timed it right you could immediately hit the quarterback every single time he was under center. The only way to combat was to go shotgun every play, which of course, you just chose to get the all out blitz. The more you know…

Ted Williams
Ty Cobb
Barry Sanders

There is no one else in the 4 majors that can be considered among the best players ever in their sport and did not win. All the top NHL, MLB, NBA, NFL players won. Yes, there are plently of hall of famers and all-time greats that never won, but these 3 are at the top of the heap.

Names like Dan Marino Allen Iverson, Karl Malone or Eric Lindros are fine names but there are plenty of guys in their sports and positions who were way better and also won.

The original post said no championships in college and pros - Tina Charles won 2 at UConn and 3 Olympic gold medals.

Let’s narrow this list down to no championships in college, the Olympics and pros.

Misread the question so scratch Ewing off this list.
