Michelle Voepel, who is probably by all accounts a very nice lady, but a terrible basketball analyst posted an article titled 'Coach Vic Schaefer builds Bulldogs into national contender' only hours after Mississippi State got upset by a pretty awful Georgia team. I mention this because she had previously posted an article to ESPN after Tennessee beat Missouri originally titled 'Don't underestimate Missouri'. Apparently someone realized how silly that was so if you google that article now it takes you to an article that has been retitled 'Bigger tests await in SEC, but Missouri is a team to watch'. This article appeared a few days before Missouri started a skid of 3 losses in 11 days. Now I happen to know that Voepel is a Missouri grad so perhaps she's not a terrible analyst, just an unabashed 'homer' who can't quite see how awful her alma mater is, but I, for one, would love to see Missouri in UConn's bracket come March. Massey and Sagarin both rate a UConn/Missouri matchup at roughly a 30 point spread, but I think it would be closer to 40

I actually really enjoy most of Michelle's writing, but as you point out her timing is very suspect this year! Hopefully she does't post anything in praise of uconn's winning streak!

And yes - she does like her some SEC and specifically that midwestern area. But she isn't usually to much of a homer in the way she writes.

Perhaps Michelle would be better served if she consulted the WCBB Gods before writing. Am not sure the jury is out on Georgia yet. Joni had a lot of Landers to "undo", and it looks like she has them heading in the right direction.
