In case those who recently signed up for StorrsCentral missed this interview - it’s worth the time.

These type of interactive pieces alone make the subscription fee worthwhile (outside blind support of the mission).
I agree, it was well worth the time. I like Sammis. He is not a bullsh_t artist. I don't think he is saying what we want to hear, but rather stating what he plans to do. It all starts with the O-line. It would be really nice to have a fun offense to watch. By fun, I mean, one that moves the ball and scores, and I don't care how they do it.

I don’t see how taking a guy with no OC experience and making him an FCS OC is likely to radically improve things, but I guess we have no choice but to keep an open mind and hope for the best.

I am skeptical as well. What gives me hope is that he has been a run game coordinator and the QB coach/pass game coordinator UConn hired has experience as an OC.

Its true of any organization that when any successful subordinate gets promoted to a higher level of responsibility with no prior experience at that promoted level. Always a risk. You don't know.

I initially had concerns about him immediately being Giufre 2.0, but I have been coming around. Still a lot of risk with the hire, but thus far holding on to important pieces on offensive that i was worried about losing and the adds we've mad in the portal speak well of Sammis.
I’ve been having the same concerns, but I keep reminding myself one thing: Sammis wants to be a coordinator, Giufre did not. I’m warming up to it a bit

I don't think Sammis wants to be a coordinator, I think his goal is Head Coach at the highest levels. The key for us is are we going to catch him on a potentially downward trending side of the developmental curve, or are we going to catch a rocket ride?. Ask any average FB fan(especially younger ones) about Steve Spagnuolo's tenure as a UConn FB coach and they'd think you were crazy. Yet there he was, let go by Skip Holtz in the 90's. I am not guardedly optimistic about Sammis, I am excited. Think he's going to be a star. Feel free to bookmark this and throw it in my face if wrong, but we are all hopeful otherwise.

Getting rid of Charlton definitely improved things no matter who they hired. With Sammis and his experience with both the running game and passing game, I think things look brighter.
