Dumb question: Who is Heather and why may she be in the stands? Well that is actually 2 dumb questions.
If accurate, this happened very quick and makes me wonder how long Benedict has been working on Hurley.

Again, it is highly unlikely that Benedict was so quick to move on from KO without a verbal agreement with his next hire in place.

Same would apply to Pitt, no?

Jay Williams tweeted the other day that Calhoun met up with Hurley a few months ago.
He was in Kingston at the start of the season to talk to the team at Hurley's request, and he obviously still has a good relationship with Tom Moore. Plus Hurley's old college head coach was Blaney.

Dude's got a ton of UConn ties, and it seems like where there's smoke, there's fire. But $$$ drives the bus, and we're going to have to compete with an ACC team here. I think we get Hurley, but we're going to have to pay for it.

If he said this I doubt he would be trolling UConn fans. Why would he lie? He wants to be considered credible.
Pitt and UConn fans are complaining about him trolling, but in reality there was only bad things to talk about all season for both.

He’s trying to keep fans calling him “the coach whisperer,” not deliberately trolling parts of his audience.

Does he troll UConn fans? Or is just realistic about the program, which bothers fans?
College fan bases are usually mostly delusional especially the ones who believe their school can do no wrong and is constantly under attack. We are no different. A few fan bases think Goodman has a vendetta against them. Especially Kentucky and NC State fans.

Jay Williams is getting his info from the boneyard. Everyone now knows JC visited URI a few times and even talked to their team. He even plays golf in southern RI in the cold, weather permitting. Between those things and Tom Moore being at URI , we know JC has spoken to Hurley on at least a few occasions.

In what possible sense? Goodman went on Sirius and said "Hurley to UConn," but that's not official.

What could possibly be misleading about "Goodman: Hurley to UConn (not official)" given that information?

It's just a rumor he's discussing on a radio show. It's being presented like it's all but set in stone.

Not a big deal, just think the headline lends itself to making a bigger deal out of what it really means.

We've had so much negative 'smoke' turn out to be true over the last few years. Nice to see a positive (to some) rumor.

I think the situations are a bit different. Firing Stallings(a search firm recommendation) after going winless in conference came with no risk. Firing KO is much different. Benedict can't swing and miss on this and knowing how calculated he is, had a plan in place before pulling the trigger.
