This dude literally hates on us all the time because he did not like Calhoun? There's got to be more to it than that right??
'

Point ...

There are MANY media members that are in this club (and I think they gang together at times). Jim Calhoun rubbed them very raw ... maybe for good reason ... and they spend too much time angling back into a negative focus on UConn basketball (suspicions of a white sheeted cabal of writers would include Wetzel, Wodjnarowski, Abraham, Les Carpenter, Parrish, Doyel, yuck)

Kevin Ollie's charm and overall goodness has turned them on their ear. Many are so sucked into the Calipari or Pitino tent that they can't see broadly.

Amazingly, he didn't respond to my tweet asking how the 2nd best team in New England won the national championship.

Oh well, I'll live.

I posted this recently but I'll post it again for a good laugh. This is Goodman's article when Ollie was hired. Don't worry, you can click on it since he was working for CBSSports.com then. In hindsight this is pretty funny how wrong he was. The junior varsity? Hah, that same team plus a couple of small added pieces won a national championship!

Can the boneyard's filter block the word Goodman from being posted on here? Clearly he is one of the worst so why still talk about him? If we collectively ignore this moron, on here and on twitter, maybe he will just go away.

I must admit that saying Ollie won with all of Calhoun's recruits was one of the funniest things I have heard in a while.

I find his garbage kind of entertaining (see your last line there). As long as I don't have to click to be entertained, I'm cool with it.

Does he realise Ollie recruited half the team as an assistant? Like Daniels never even met JC before committing ? (Or is that a myth?)

I would guess that's a myth. At the same time, he didn't actually see the campus prior to committing, so you never know.

Jeff Goodman, cbs.com @GoodmanCBS: Count me as a Kevin Ollie fan, but he has limited college experience -and this is a daunting task at UConn right now. Talent level low

http://articles.courant.com/2012-09..._uconn-s-jim-calhoun-coach-calhoun-nate-miles

Freaking moron.

EDIT: in case anyone is confused that was his reaction when Calhoun retired. That UConn had low talent level left for Ollie

Gregg Doyel's comment is interesting also. I guess that's why he's making a sportswriter salary instead of making big bucks picking the right stocks to buy!

Also a stain: UConn can't play in this season's NCAA tournament because of its terrible APR score that's a result of subpar academics. Also a stain: Calhoun is considered by most to be the primary reason Jeff Hathaway was run out of Connecticut a year ago, meaning the basketball coach basically fired his athletic director 13 months before his exit. Also a stain: The timing of this decision essentially forced UConn to promote an unproven assistant to the position of head coach at a time when the roster is depleted and the team is setup to lose a bunch of games, which is almost certainly why Calhoun is walking away in the first place. You really think he'd be retiring if UConn was eligible for the NCAA tournament and in possession of enough talent to advance in the bracket? Please.

Thank God for James Calhoun.

Parrish can suck it too.

Media members are far too lax/timid about calling out each other's crap. That would make a good website, legitimate sports writers critiquing the pieces of their peers. Sports journalism needs far more accountability than it currently has. It's basically a bunch of monkey's throwing on the walls.

Also, the primary reason for Hathaway's exit was his abysmal relationship with donors. The hiring of Pasqualoni was an absolute debacle that embarrassed everyone associated with the school. I don't think Calhoun cared to help him, but that line is an absolute lie.

This isn't limited to sportswriters. It happens in every industry. You don't call out industry colleagues, because you never know when you might need that contact.

But then again, professionalism never goes out of style and neither does competency.

I feel like the standards are a bit higher in other industries? I know there's complete idiots everywhere (especially in media), but at least in something like the scientific world, you need to be peer reviewed.

Eh, I don't mean necessarily taking him to task and raking him over the coals, but I've seen the ESPN/CBS/NBC, etc guys rib on each and other and call each other out for their bs. Goodman was usually the primary target, his Wiggins flip flop where he went from being all over his jock when he was in HS, to then being "that guy" when it came to pointing out his shortcomings was often the object of their barbs. This thing with Ollie is pretty blatant, the fact that dude is acting like the CBS/low level talent article never happened is pretty low even for him.

Yup, I actually hate him more than Goodman.

Zero love for Parrish, but at the very least, he occasionally writes an informed MCBB article.

At least when Doyel called predicted UConn and Shabazz had zero about against Michigan state (or was it Florida, I forget) he ate crow. In not sure if he is as huge of a as he appears to be or if it's like a character he plays. Either way he does enjoy getting under people's skin, and sometimes makes a cogent point along the way. Goodman, the other hand is a talent -deficient troll hack.

Goodman should just stick with the transfer list, that's his schtick, it what he knows. His opinion on anything else isn't worth

His negativity towards UConn gets him plenty of notoriety on this board. That probably is his goal. Negativity sells.
