The NCAA caved in?

The Supreme Court kicked down the NCAA's doors.

But, yeah, it's kinda' sad for the old master/servant system to collapse.

Somewhat shocking and positive, there has actually been some real discussion in Congress over past week on legislation to protect NCAA.

This is mostly in regards to a lawsuit that would pay previous athletes compensation for the NIL that they were prevented from earning.

With a $3billion settlement anticipated, enough to wipe out years and years of TV money, college presidents and Congress are waking up that they may need to stop this.

Law could just protect NCAA on financial damages, or could also support a framework of regulation around the finances and regulation of college sport.

They still have 6-12 months before this hits them in the face. Stay tuned to see if this is just hot air, or if something really gets done.

Because of my lazyness, I left out that they brought all this on themselves, though their own corrupt miss use of power. In doing do they set them selves up for law suits and interference by our justice system. They then to save themselves removed even logical restrictions. That is what I meant by caving in. They did not d it for justice but to save themselves.

Looks like Cal Athletics will be getting 10 million per year from UCLA "calimony" due to its decision to break from the Pac-12 and leave Cal (its sister school) high and dry....Gift Link: SF Chronicle

The “Calimony” payments — which will be considered by the UC Board of Regents at its meeting next week at UC Merced — follow UCLA’s divorce from the Pac-12 to join the Big Ten. The move accelerated the dissolution of the Pac-12 and Cal, along with Stanford, ultimately accepted an invitation to join the ACC.
Projections show that Cal will collect about $50 million less per year than UCLA in media-rights revenues as a result of the different conference contracts.
