Good chance Azzi Plays

The comments about Yanna were really interesting too. He talked about the 5-6 days when she could fully practice and how incredibly impactful she was. Also said she’ll be fully healed in six months. Sounds like we’ve got another really good contributor for next season.
Agree completely, and it makes me far more optimistic about what she could do in the future. Her freshman year started OK and then went downhill, and her season numbers were not encouraging even on things where I expected her to be great, like rebounding and blocked shots.

She was still pretty good in those areas, but given her strength and athletic ability I expected her to be exceptional in those areas. It is quite possible, however, that she played hurt and hampered by injuries for most of that first year, and maybe in practice this year Geno got to see even if briefly, what a healthy Ayanna could do. Maybe a little like Azzi playing like a superstar her first 6 games of her sophomore season. She played with foot issues all of her freshmen season and after a summer of recovery looked like a totally different player. In both cases it appears their first year was not a true indication because even though they played quite a bit they were never healthy.

Questionable and doubtful are both part of the normal lexicon for injury reports; doable, in this context, is Geno searching for a word that gives nothing away and doesn't pin him down but allows the listener to attach their own preferred meaning... He's playing mad libs.

On the Coaches Show today (Fri) he said probable, which in the NFL usually means likely.

I don't think AZZI starts. She has been out too long. Better they go with the Iowa State line-up and sub her in from there.
I agree. I don't think she starts but comes off the bench. However, I don't think the reason is because she's been out too long. It's been what, 12 or 13 days? I seriously doubt in that time she's forgotten how to play or that her perfect mechanics have gotten rusty. More likely it'll because of minutes restriction.

The WELLS FARGO Warm-Ups are on the UConn Women's Basketball group on Facebook, livestreaming at 7PM. This might be the chance to see how ready Azzi is tonight.
