It's not a one or another situation - the refs and players have both sucked.

It was ugly because Calhoun intentionally coached it to be ugly. He gameplanned to beat Brad Stevens at his own game and ended up taking him behind the woodshed in doing so.

My memory may be failing me but my recollection was that the first half was brutally bad but the 2nd was OK.

Could be. Calhoun WAS the king at beating other coaches at their own game..No one was better IMO, not to sound like a homer.
