Golden age?

For me the Golden Age will always be 1990 to 1999. The 10 years leading to NCAA Championship #1 and revenge against K and Duke. It was as emotionally invested as I've ever been in sports.

That said... i enjoy modern NBA with it's parity.

It was great in retrospect but living through Florida 94 and Mississippi State 96 is not something I'd like to do again

It is the age of golden paychecks. But Russell versus Chamberlain is hard to match in any era.

CBS had Sunday games on every week during that time. Baylor and West Lakers, Nate Thurmond-Rick Barry Warriors, Wes Unseld-Earl "the Pearl" Bullets, to go with Knicks Sixers and Celts. My love of basketball developed on Sundays after Church and Sunday dinner!!

I like human interest stories but it seems like any time I've tuned into ESPN in recent years it's dumb people with terrible takes arguing with each other. It's like a much dumber Crossfire from back in the day with much dumber people.

I come here for that.

I just heard Evan Roberts call today's NBA the sport"s "Golden Age".

It took me by surprise. Im sure he has his reasons.
Is this Giannis/Jokic/Wemby era the Golden Age? What about college ball?

The NBA Golden Age is the Bird/Magic era. The league was dying, and Bird/Johnson brought the league back from near death.

Tend to agree. Jordan years was the second iteration of it, a bit of an extension of it.

That's why I say it's 84-98. The league thrived until the Jordan Bulls were broken up.

Today's NBA regular season seems as unwatchable as ever, with load management, ridiculous contracts, etc. Players and fans seemed to care much more in the 80s and 90s during the regular season. Granted, the playoffs are as exciting as ever, with more parity from 1 to 8 as there has ever been. NBA has ensured there will be no decade-long dynasties as the 90s Bulls or the 80s Lakers or C's.
