I doubt his AAU team is trying to hurt him pretty sure they are on good terms. When the first allegations came out Reggie Rose his AAU coach called it a witch hunt. Living out here Chicago no one is surprised by this saying a lot of schools backed off because of concerns like this. I heard rumors he might be connected to Ken Caldwell which would be bad.

I think we're creating a scenario to fit the circumstance.

I would not believe the head of the NCAA is gunning for Ryan Boatright. That's too black-helicopterish for me.

But someone clearly is trying to torpedo the Boatshow. I doubt that person is in the NCAA, but someone is clearly working to try to hurt him.

I agree the head of the NCAA is not gunning for Ryan Boatright - he does though have a grudge at UC and certain people there based on what happened during his prior employment at UC. Again the Boatshow is really just collateral damage in regards to a bureacrat trying to extract revenge. Doing a re-do on Boatshow's AAU days after already going there - shows were he focuses his limited resources - when maybe CUSE or PSU should get a closer look. The 2013 APR retroactive/double jeopardy approach (actually even worse since we already got a punishment for some of those years) and the deal he cut with the Black Colleges (gave them exemptions for votes to hold other schools to a higher standard) reeks of someone going to any illogical length to achieve payback. And guess what program gets hurt in 2013 , more than any other - UConn MBB - NO COINCIDENCE.

I have taken a lot of heat and held back on this hoping the new leadership in place at UConn would make things different. Given the double jeopardy outrage this morning and the outrageous treatment of an 18 year old black kid - the gloves are now off. If it aggravates the situation more - so be it.

The word in very high level academic circles is that Mark Emmert felt that he was not very well treated at UConn and he left not on good terms with the school or certain individuals at the school. Some of these individuals are still at the school and some are not.

Mark Emmert , who has done nothing about the serious sex scandals at Cuse & PSU, yet his investigative unit is working over-time on an 18 year black kid from Chicago who happens to attend UConn. How can you punish someone you already held out while the investigation was underway - then gave a harsh punishment to - 6 game suspension - then just before his hometown game - with 400 folks planning to be in attendance - this new supposive pre college new evidence comes up now - this is non-sense.

Why not focus some investigation on a lack of institutional leadership covering up coaches preying on child victims??? But Mark Emmert did not leave these cshools on bad terms. No grudge or scores to settle.

My suggestion is Ryan's 400 friends and supporters should protest outside NCAA HQ's on Monday. It is MLK Day and there is more work to be done. I will even join them.

And if anyone still thinks this illogical retroactive/double jeopardy 2013 APR stuff is about anything other than Mark's grudge against certain people at UConn - you are fools. Just because it is wrapped in an academic wrapper doesn't mean it is all about one man's revenge.
Why do you twice invoke Boatright's skin color?

If this is true and the NCAA has any integrity themselves- he should be fired. Also I am not litigious person but UCONN should sue the living crap out out the NCAA. Sometimes a bully only understands a punch in the throat. Enough is enough.

If RB was a white kid and Chief used the word white twice to describe him would that have bothered you? Address the issue, the arguements over petty BS on here are astounding. It's the powerful slapping down the powerless. NCAA vs Kirk King comes to mind. High minded eggheads permanently taking away things from students that have commited miner infractions. No one at the NCAA heard about the police investigation at PSU in 1998? Tarkanian shouldn't have allowed them to settle. The BCS Bowl scandals with the money/political spending/prostitutes that were revealed about the Feista Bowl? Roast their hypocritical butts over the coals.

Chief, what does the fact that Boatright is black, have to do with any of this? Why play the race card here?
Yep, wondering that, too. And, "an 18 year old ..kid." Aren't almost all freshman that?

Better stated than I stated it - "It's the powerful slapping down the powerless".........I never should have said "18 year old black kid from Chicago", which to me sort of said that.....however it side track many from the thrust of my point - which any mention of race often does.

I suggest we start a fund to discredit these pompous bastards. We hire someone to dig up the dirt. That would be awesome. As they know there's nothing more fun than making someones life miserable.

I'm not absolutely convinced. I say we start a collection and hire two investigators to see if they can find dirt on current Duke and Kentucky recruits and if they do find something they submit it to the NCAA. Then let's observe how the NCAA deals with these storied programs. If they don't handle things the way we perceive UConn is being singled out, then Chief has a valid complaint. Otherwise it is just a conspiracy theory.

Duke should have had their 1999 tourney wins vacated a long time ago, but that would have thrown a wrench in the NCAA's selective enforcement policy.

Well Yes, if Chief had kept mentioning "white" it would have raised same issue with me, sounds like you have issues.
