Niels Giffey was tempted to stay in Europe, turn pro, "but I came here and started this journey and I need to finish it." #uconnmen #UCvsMD

Minor news, but I know a few of us (yes, myself included) were nervous about the possibility of Giffey not making it back to CT after his impressive showing playing for team Germany.

That quote by Giffey raises my liking of him even further. I can't believe I was at one point bitching about us taking him. That's punch yourself in the face material.

Giffey, Daniels, Napier and are 3 players who will always have my utmost respect for their decision to stay at UConn and not turn tail and run when things got tough. If we did some kind of "all character" team thread, these guys would all be on it. I wonder what the Red Cross blood drive workers think when they see the Husky Blue blood these guys have in their veins.

Definitely. I would throw Omar in there as well. We would have let him out of his LOI and it would have been very, very easy to go someplace else.

Handcuff Tyler to him. Sorry Giff, but take (another) one for the team.

True. Add Omar, Nolan, Tolksdorf, and Boat"w"right to the list

Giffey is an all-time favorite Husky for me, he needs to be one of the captains.

Olander apparently doesn't want it badly enough, so give it to the guy who's shown that he does.

We could possibly have the hardest working team in America. The team was at the football game together. Love the "we do it as a team" concept. Go Huskies! One week until the celebration of the accomplishments of the greatest hoops coach of all time!
