Georgetown Post Game Thread

I was at the game and must say I didn’t see that at all. Think people need to get past the “everyone is out to get us” mantra. First off, it’s not true. And secondly, it’s just lame.
Same and same. Couldn’t agree more.

The team just won to advance to the championship game, and somehow the focus is on one player taking another’s minutes.
That was one post and other posts praising the team and players are disappearing.

A lot of good and what's important we won and advanced.

With that said, what's up with the crowd. That had to be the most underwhelming and quietest BET Semifinal UConn crowd I've ever heard. Hope it's better tomorrow night.

We will need to shoot much better tomorrow. Much better. And if today is an indication these refs may hit us with early fouls tying our rotation in knots. Gotta get through the 1st half with no real foul trouble.

I was there and the crowd was excellent until the last 10 minutes where it was in hand and quite choppy

I don't think there was an appreciable benefit to either team but I do think how it was called largely resulted in the poor offensive showing and the overall ugliness of the game. It just creates a bad spectator/TV product and for some reason this league is stuck in the 80s as far as the level of contact allowed. This game to me was even more contact than we normally see, which is saying a lot.

Watching on the TV it just sounded like the mixing was messed up. Whenever the UConn chants started, the announcers were lowered and the ambient sound increased.

I would also stronger refute that being there in person. Keep in mind that and St. John’s fans that stuck around were definitely not rooting for UConn. Crowd and atmosphere was great.

I'm guessing because the game was a grind. There really wasn't a big run all night to spark anything uconn just wore them down and the lead just crept up.

I honestly didn’t notice the refs much at all other than the non shooting call on AK towards the end of the first half and the double tech, i didn’t see that at all

I obviously want to win.
But regardless of outcome I dont think neither us nor st johns would rather face any one else but each other, at the garden, as the last game before the tourney.
God help the teams that sees either of us first round. I don't know who Angola is... but they in trouble.

Exactly. It’s not the calls that are The issue, it’s the non calls.

GTown could have been called for 4-5 fouls every single possession on defense with all of the holding, clutching, grabbing and pushing off-ball. The refs just let them do it all game long.

St John’s will do the exact same thing tomorrow night.

Alright, so who saw that idiotic FS1 graphic for UConn's tournament resume ? Best win - BYU, #23 NET

How about Net #4 - Florida ?
Or perhaps Net #5 - Illinois ?
Maybe Net #18 - Kansas in Allen Fieldhouse ??
In conference Net #21 - SJU ?

Unbelievable

Only thing that makes sense is BYU was ranked #7 when we beat them vs those other wins being against teams ranked in the teens. But it was a terribly thought-out graphic and they should have displayed Florida as our best win because they were using NET values.

Maybe it was just the TV feed. All I could hear were a few random cheers other than after UConn did something good. The whole idea of having a hostile crowd is a lot of noise before the team does something good.

Again, maybe it's the feed, and if that's the case Fox doesn't have a good product. In fact the lack of replays is noticeable and flat out sucks. I find myself having to rewind it constantly to see what happened. IMO, just a horrible product.

Anyone else noticed the mods deleting posts here? What’s going on? WTF?
I posted that UConn might have set a big east all-time tournament record for the least number of free-throw attempts, and my post gets deleted? I mean WTF!

Seriously, is cancer culture alive and well here on the boneyard?

No free throws for first 34 minutes of game. I rest my case your honor. Karaban was without question in shooting motion with 4 seconds left in first half

Solid effort on back-to-back nights. That’s encouraging. We really controlled both games. My two takeaways: 1) Mullins is so much more effective when he’s moving without the ball. He was great at staying active tonight. 2) I’m one of many who believe that playing Silas and Mal together for 5-10 minutes per game is a great look for us. It gives Silas a break from having to handle the ball, especially against teams who play aggressive on-ball defense. Plus, they’ve been really good together. I’m psyched for tomorrow. Should be fun.

Your post was never deleted, and it's called cancel culture, not cancer culture.

Totally agree on Silas and Malachi playing together.

I was not at the game and it was poor officiating. You seem to think that being at the game gives you a more "real" take on the officials? It does not. Close has nothing to do with it. It is the view you have. I was watching on a monitor. Think. There is a reason refs in all sports got to the "monitor" to clear up calls. Refs are even closer than you to the play and they are the ones who missed calls. And while I was watching a hundred miles away, my views were not bad, considering.

Why was the AK foul not a shooting foul before the half? Why was GT allowed to push TR out of bounds and not get called? Why was TR triple teamed under the basket with no call against GT in the first half, and early in the second half they call a touch foul on the GT player (GT fans would be rightly irate)? With all the contact between Silas and the GT player that led to the double foul (determined only after going to the monitor, BTW) how was all other contact between GT and UConn players, allowed? Won't mention FTA disparity. No, I will. UConn shot its first FT with 6+ left in the GAME. I think it was a record.

I am not one who says they are "out to get us", so I wont respond to that straw-man. You misunderstand what the ref complaints are about. Lame? Right. Nothing is more lame than apologizing for a person, who will tell you to your face, they have an impossible job getting it right.

Guessing the end of the game was hard to be pulled into. Really slow and choppy thanks to the refs.

I’m convinced these Big East teams intentionally muck up games to give themselves a better shot at beating top opponents. They played us and St. John’s really close because neither of us could pull away.

Nice to see a team just sleepwalk to a 16 point BET win. Sleepwalk probably isn't the right word but most of the team was going through the motions and there was never a doubt we'd win

Oh. 😬
Oh….😬…never mind

100% on both points
