It’s always been his strategy. We just don’t have Tristen Newton or cam Spencer to go one on one and get a bucket with the clock winding down
I think Solo can. Definitely has a better chance at getting a shot than Diarra. We're bailing the defense out everytime he has the ball in that situation. He needs to understand that he's a table setter. He has no business trying to create offense for himself.

If it's going to be a strategy, then at least practice some end of clock situations. We've struggled there (see: Nova). Instead, we dribbled around nonchalantly and had three consecutive shot clock violations. Seems like a missed opportunity.
It’s going to be his strategy. And I’m sure they already practice it. GTown also defended well. Which is apart of the equation. What opportunity did we miss exactly? Winning by 15-16 instead of 8?

I like Solo for a pull up 2 in that situation, even better than going to the rim, he a great shooter.

For sure partly on Hurley, but Hass has to at least attempt to get a better look that trying to take his man off the bounce every possession. When we’re going our best, we’re still running offense and getting decent looks in those bleed the clock situations. None of that today.
agree, run it down but start a play with 15 left on clock, it doesn’t have to stay in haas’s hands

he is not really trying to create for himself. Hass is pass first guy. The problem is the other guys stop moving so they don't get open which means Hass has to hoist the shot up.

It's why I cringed when I read the responses on here blaming Hass for the last second miss against Colorado. I am sure you guys could've seen it on TV, but I was there in the bleachers in Maui for that game and had a much better view of the floor than Hass and I didn't see anyone open who he could confidently get the ball to without a deflection. A deflection in that situation would've meant a loss as the time would have run out and UConn wouldn't have gotten a shot up, which is worse.

Good win. Now a full week off to get healthy and ready for creighton. I agree that the end of game anti-basketball is not great long term though. As some others have mentioned, why not just run your normal offense. We usually shoot deep into the shot clock anyway.

Like clockwork, people complain about the end of game offense. That was one of the best games we've played this year. The last few minutes doesn't change that
I agree...but still 8 mins is too long to run no offense at all. The game was another minute of that strategy away from being a 1 possession game.

Best minutes in the first half were with the line up of Mahaney, Samson, Ross, Alex and Ball.

Ross played excellent defense on Peavy. Did not have one up fake mistake. Mahaney, Ross and Solo all played well defensively.

Nowell and Hassan frustrated Mack the entire second half until the dogs were called off.

Samson was the best center in this game for both teams.

Great to see Alex come alive. Ball is an incredible 3 pt shooter again.

Hopefully the sophomores continue this upward trend.

This was the silver lining that we hoped would come from Liam’s injury.

Ross and Sam opened my eyes
Mahaney had moments both ways
Ball AK awesome
Nowell needs 15 min at least
Need to define how to run it with Reed in, never looks like he is a major option
Stew can’t make it happen twice in a row, is he too thinky?
Hassan allowed a tough game, his role and importance to the success of team has doubled? tripled?? since last year

It’s there, kids have to grab it by the throat

Hurley should have let them play full throttle to the end. They’d have had a blast!

Sloppy first half, great second 15 or so, and then yuck. I get it was a big lead but Hass…. What was that?

Still a great reminder of how good this team is when they’re on.
Exactly my thoughts. UConn either plays great or awful. Last 6 minutes of game was some of worst basketball I’ve seen. Did they even hit the rim on shots in the last 5 minutes of game? 3 or 4 shot clock violations multiple air balls, WTF?

Fortunately they had 14 stellar minutes at start of second half, and a 5 minute spurt of good play in first half.
20 minutes of greatness, and 20 minutes of garbage.

My point is that, if we're going to run different offense (versus our traditional sets), then let's actually get some real reps in to figure out who should have the ball in their hands. We had multiple lethargic possessions where the only real goal was to hold on to the ball for the duration of the shot clock. Georgetown's defense can be spectacular but don't tell me their defense is so stifling that we can't even hit rim and extend the possession.

Good thing there’s a game clock, huh? It would be crazy if they just added a minute for the hell of it.

I get that people would rather see a 25 point win but this is what Hurley does. He literally said to Hass at one point “they’re never going to catch us.” I don’t get being all poopy pants about a dominating win for a team that needed one.

Great win on the road vs an improving program. Forget losing that 20 point lead. Great win.

Samson Johnson was great. As was Alex!!
Perhaps best game of year for ball, ross and Nowell. Balls defense was much improved today. Ross played very well except the cringeworthy fake 3 and pull up for 2 with a straight line dunk being offered. Nowell can get to the hoop but needs to keep the flow of offense going. Many of the improvements today are the key to march.

Kenpom up one spot, maybe 10 spots on D, down 2 on O. Need to sprinkle in a couple blowouts to be near that top 15 of Kenpom and also to pad the NET. That’s what 8 minutes of dribbling it out will do
