Geno on Azzi

Well...by next Friday morning...the day after our game with ND... I hope the best news will NOT be about
our win over the Irish but the news we have already heard about Azzi's health. The Geno/Azzi hug and smiles made me
beam.
 
I mean, sh didn’t need any ice, she even played a bit after her knee problem. She seemed okay to me.

Remember when Paige had a scare vs Marquette last season and was icing her knee, yet was still fine? Azzi’s gotta be okay, likely didn’t come back because we were demolishing LV.
 
Azzi got twisted up with a Louisville player. I am hoping that her reaction was a mix of fear and caution based on her injury history and not due to yet another serious injury. I will say that when she jogged down the court to the left corner, ended up with the ball in her hands and buried a 3, it was reassuring, to say the least.

I was there. In a UCONN section, or so it seemed since everywhere was a UCONN section. We were all holding our breath. She came back out a different way that she went into the locker room and just sat on the bench. Otherwise, the place would have erupted. She was tremendous last night, even hitting that 3 from the corner after she got hurt.
 
We are seeing the complete Azzi. She was always known as a great shooter, but we are now seeing her ability to drive to the hoop and finish, and watch her one-on-one defense, she can shut players down.

I've seen kids tear their ACL and finish games. People's bodies react differently. Hopefully this morning there is little to no swelling and very little soreness and it's just a contusion or something like that.

I'm not to worried about this. She jogged off of the court and was back on the bench laughing and smiling shortly after the "injury." She didn't have any wrapping or ice on it either. If those things were necessary, they would have done that.

Before her removal, Azzi had actually fallen hard on both knees chasing a loose ball, and my heart jumped. However, she got right up and trotted up the court. All was apparently well. When she went down later and was immediately taken out (after draining a corner 3), she reacted to her right knee by grabbing it. This time there was clearly a problem of some sort.
Azzi has come back to us like the old Azzi, maybe even better. We have all hoped for a full and sustained return to health. It would be terrible all around if she is sidelined again. Her loss again would be too sad to contemplate. The team looks so great when she's out there. Damn.

Jess Moore played the last few minutes of a title game with a bum ligament. Just sayin'. I hope you are very right.

Azzi posted on her IG story an hour ago doing a gingerbread pulling competition. Probably grasping at any little thing for a sign, but hopefully that is a good one that she is feeling good today.

Well, if Azzi can pull gingerbread, she most certainly can play basketball….:)

By the way, what in the hell is a “gingerbread pulling competition?”
