Thank you Husky Nan for the stats and the same stats will grow exponentially as the seasons continue. I really believe that Geno will sign a new extension of his current contract , so he can coach the fantastic new recruits coming in, WHY RETIRE when winning is so much fun! !Geno is a blessed coach that had a philosophy that really worked and now he can enjoy it every day as Uconn plays on. Last year I predicted that Uconn would go undefeated and thus win NO13. I have never wavered despite all the Pundits doubts and worries. Still say they will not lose. GO HUSKIES!!!!

Uconn also just tied the LaTech 54 game winning steak for 4th place behind three other Uconn streaks. and ahead of next two other longest streaks also set by Uconn.

(And I still dispute that LaTech streak because it was set using a 32 game undefeated season in AIAW that the NCAA does not recognize as an Undefeated season. If they don't recognize the season, how do they recognize the streak?)

Nobody has ever accused the recordkeepers of consistency. MLB still considers the 1884 Union League, a one-year vanity league where only five teams out of 12 played the full season, as a major league.

He is by far the best recruiter to ever coach men or women. He doesn't take players that won't submit to the team no matter how good they are and he never misses one that will. This year UConn has 10 players that would start at almost any other school and they really look like next year should be more of the same. I am glad Geno has coached long enough to enjoy his teams while they are still playing for him.

You make good points and just last week Geno said retiring is not on his mind. But life is full of surprises. Nonbasketball factors may intrude. Health of course. Kathy may lean on him. The health of a family member may change his mind. If winning basketball games were enough he might never retire.

Dooooooooooomed

He is a great coach. He has earned the right to be called one. However, he has the better players in 99.9% of the games he coaches in, and if the other team isn’t South Carolina, make that 100%. To his credit, he recruits those players. Then again, UConn spends more money on women’s basketball than any other school. Again, other than South Carolina.
So, a great coach is deserved. I could never call him the best ever in any sport though.
