Tina was dominant. BG had a few good plays but Tina basically schooled BG.
But she did make Tina work hard. She was not her usual self two days later against Stanford. My feeling is that Griner would be able to handle EW at this stage without being adversely affected in the next game. Not a knock on EW, but Griner has physical attributes that make her a tough matchup for anyone, even Tina Charles.

Kind words. Tina was so polished that year and she certainly let BG know that she had a lot of work to do. It was good for Griner. BG has made strides and I believe that game against Tina pushed her to a new level.

That is another reason that I pray that BG makes it on the Olympic team. I believe that she will come back much better than she is today.

huh? you make no sense. and by the way the experts disagree with you too. and they have no agreement across the board either.

Charlie Creme says the hardest regional is Kingston (UCONN). of the other 5, 2 chose Raleigh and 3 chose Des Moines.

So 1 out of the 6 experts you named think UConn is in the hardest bracket. I guess you showed me! But they have as little travel as any team could possibly have without playing on campus. And let's be serious, it's WCBB. After the top 2 or 3 teams in each bracket, does it really matter? UConn pummeled the #6 overall team on the road this year. The 12th ranked team is seeded 2nd in UConn's region and the only other threat is the 3rd best team in the ACC (and that team has to travel over 3,000 miles in the 1st round!). And I don't make sense? Admit it, it's a total gift!

you completely missed my point. did you forget the part about of the 6 experts, not a single one thought UCONN's bracket was the easiest? frankly i'm not sure what you are even arguing about.

the chances of any of the 1-4 seeds getting upset is slim, but it does happen. the teams at the top have pretty much distances themselves from everyone else. the committee tries to keep the higher seeds as close to home as possible. it has to do with attendance and getting people to the games. it's not like on the men's side where people will flock to see a good game, even if it's in NYC and it's Kansas vs. Kentucky. so it's no surprise that UCONN goes to Bridgeport for the first 2 rounds.

You have to love some of Geno's quotes.

4). “In terms of Tiffany Hayes [stress injury] being ready to play Saturday and Monday, I don’t think that will be an issue at all.”

You can interpret this at least a couple of ways: she'll be ready or won't miss her if she's not.

3). “Does it help us [to be close to home for the subregional and regional final]? No, we got our butt beat by St. John’s at home. We didn’t need to travel any further than from our apartments to the gym.”

2).“When that happens [UConn vs. Kentucky], you can ask me about [seeing UConn transfer Samarie Walker]. I am not going to write your story for you three weeks ahead of time.”

1). “I didn’t follow the [NCAA] season as much as I usually do when I have more free time. This year I was losing sleep over my own team.”

When he retires, he'll make a great commedian.

Tina basically played a very smart game, worked extremely hard, and got everything out of her talent, size (6'3" or 6'4" I'm still not sure which) and abilities to that point. Which is something you hope for out of a senior.

All of which were absolutely *must-haves* for successfully combating the freshman phenom..... not sure anyone else could have done it. (A completely healthy Jane Appel would been another interesting matchup.)
