You couldn't ask for a better article for Geno's purposes. How many other coaches could visit and have it be considered newsworthy? Just sends the message (or reinforces) to a recruit as to how big the opportunity, if she chooses that path, is to her community.

The quote, "Narrow it down to how good of a student they are, are they unselfish, are they a good person. Just by doing that, the list gets really small." is telling.

Three items that appear to eliminate most players, no matter how good a player they are, to create the really small list. Reminds you why the Huskies are the way they are, and among other factors (such as team needs or the stated desire to stay near to home) why some players don't quite hit the mark.

I think it was when Geno walked into the gym where Jewell Loyd was playing--she said the place went silent was soon as he walked through the door. Maybe they knew him or maybe they were simply wondering who was the cocky little guys with loafers and no socks in the middle of the Chicago winter. :)

Where's that photo of the "Geno is God" sign when you need it?
