I seemed to have caught a break and my Spectrum Subscription allowed me to get the Live 3 x 3 stream for session 1 on the Olympic Channel which I normally do not get as a Cable station

Game 1 Russia / Japan 21-18
Game 2 China / Romania 21-10

China has some size/strength in the middle May give Stephanie a real test if they meet

China's Qian Yang won the first gold medal of the 2020 Toyko Olympics, thanks to a late rally in women's 10-meter air rifle.

Japan gets first gold medal in Men's Judo. I was watching and I do not understand the rules. Botnh were clutching their robes and all of a sudden, ref gives the win.:confused::confused:

Earlier, < 48Kg women's judo could have been the 1st Japanese gold but Kosovo #1 ranked opponent threw her counterpart with 10 seconds left. That one I understood.

USA defeats Mongolia 21-9 in their second match of the day. Allisha Gray leads the scoring with 9 pts. Kelsey Plum with 6 pts.

USA is the lowest seed in these Olympics at #8, France is the #1 seed based on 3 x 3 Federation ranking points, not that it matters any other than we might not see Team USA in white unis, if they have them.

Yep!

Stephanie not quite comfortable like she was with Obama. It will take a while before she belts out "We're back"

Yeah. It was odd watching. I do not understand the Judo event either. I know what Judo is but all I saw for 5 minutes, two guys holding each others shirt. Some how one of the guys got their shirt open. They embraced. The refs broke them apart. Then they switched sides for a few seconds. Interesting.

Upset alert - USA MBB team had 10 pt lead over France early in the 3rd qtr. That's gone and they trail 56-62 at the start of the 4th qtr.

And that's a wrap - US came back and held a 7 pt lead with three minutes to go, then failed to score again until some meaningless free throws at the end. France wins 83-76.

They got outscored by 14 in the last 3 minutes??
Yup. Fouls to stop the clock (including an intentional one) and missing open threes (including four straight in one possession ) padded the score in the end.

Woke up this morning and got to see ND alum Lee Kiefer bring home the first foil gold medal (ever) for the U.S. Way to go, Lee! While I love to follow the Irish hoopsters and laxers, also proud of the fencing team, which won the NCAA title this year. Lee's one of the best to come through the Bend.

Remember they don't play defense in the NBA so it shouldn't surprise anyone they can't play D in international competition :(
But don't all the French players (either in the past or presently) play in the NBA ?

Katie Ledecky loses to Titmus of Australia in the 400meters. Bound to happen as Titmus was gaining on her steadily.

This is a shock. Katie Ledecky lost by 0.77 sec, 3:57:36 vs. 3:56:69.

I don't know. I do know they played as a team which is definitely a problem for us right now. IMO

If Biles is out, then I wouldn't call that an upset.

US was already trailing after the first rotation when Biles was still in there. In any case, foregone conclusion after she withdrew. Russia finishes 3.5 points ahead for the gold.
