Garden Party Thursday

The only positive about the AAC forcing us to play in their triple-a conference for the 20-21 season is story line. We will have a major bone to pick with them for the next 2 years as they already will with us for leaving.

Actually we’re staying in the AAC for football and it’s going to be hilarious

From ‘Welcome back:’ UConn, Big East make partnership official with joint press conference

New York, NY - 6/27/19 - Madison Square Garden signage announced UConn's return to the Big East Conference Thursday.

That would be hilarious. Trading them OOC games in basketball is the pitch, right?

If the AAC wants to keep their Conference Championship Game, they either have to add another team or play 10 league games. That's some leverage on our part as well...

.-.
I think the main pitch is that, assuming BYU and Army say no, they can’t find anyone better.

But, I actually believe independence will be better/more fun
Maybe. But that's putting a lot on a weakened brand. AAC Football and BE Basketball is about as good as you get in this scenario.

Yeah that's great
She can use them to keep walking away from Storrs
She sounded like a complete genius during the presser
My God the new UConn president can't get here quick enough
Yeah because he's such a dynamic speaker.

How does the exit clause situation work IF UConn were to stay in the AAC for football only?

.-.
Nah, don't agree coach Hurley, this is not a great day for UConn! Lot of bad decisions and execution by Suzy during here 8 year reign, not a good result. Don't blame donut man or red pants or Ollie, she ran the show.

How awesome would it have been to be able to be there for this? Gives me chills..

Down the street from The Garden, Dan Hurley, Geno Auriemma, fans revel in UConn’s happy hour

"Hurley said he has close to 200 unread texts on his phone, and it’s still going off. The enthusiasm on campus followed to New York. “The smiles,” he said, “the hugs, the high fives. You just see it on the faces, how much this means. It was no cameo. The coaches and Benedict stayed for a couple of hours, basking in the glow of a move that most UConn fans support”

This could be the best middle finger to the AAC ever. They screwed us so bad with the media deal, and if they end up having to keep us in football it would be hilarious (especially since we should still get some good revenue from their media contract for that...)

Also wouldn't be opposed to scheduling a few OOC basketball games each year with Memphis, Cincy and/or Houston if necessary. Hopefully would be a couple of extra quad one OOC games...

Cincy is the only one I’d have interest in continuing to play.

Well as long as all 3 continue to be top 25 teams, it would be a better resume builder than whatever other buy games we would fill our schedule with, but agree that Cincy would be first choice. Memphis would be second

Why? Big 12 has 10 teams and has a conference title game.
