I heard the entire exterior roof is getting a total redo. They are keeping the interior roof like Epcot but are installing more acoustically enhanced ceiling tiles for amplified sound.

I would highly doubt it. You might see more early games at Hartford. If they ever had to do just one venue for a year that would be a logistical nightmare with season tickets

About the same amount of room as on a Breeze flight. The 1 and only time I flew on Breeze was to Las Vegas for the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 in 2023. The guys who I went with were all cheap skates and wanted to take the cheapest flight to Vegas. I will never fly on Breeze again.

The biggest waste of good seating additions are the midlevel sidewalks that were part of the original plan for Gampel. It is rare to see that setup in any game I watch on TV. A complete engineering/design fail. Fans should be moving around for food, bathrooms etc. under the seats for the arena. When UConn filled in the corners from the original Gampel they again screwed up in putting 2 stairways in for that small section. More lost seats and took room out of the entryways. There should be a class taught on How not to Design an Arena with Gampel as the example. It was not long ago that every triangle piece of the outer and inner roof was removed, replaced, and resealed. And now it is being paid for again. I was at UConn in the late 70's. The original plan in the Daily Campus was to seat 12,500 and be a rectangle in shape. And we continue to deal with the bad choice that was made in going for the cheaper option.
 
The Vines Center at Liberty University had the same high maintenance roof but they replaced it with a Devo Roof. Liberty opened a new 4k basketball arena and Vines is used if they expect bigger crowds. Strange

The improvements include replacing elements of Gampel’s interior ceiling and exterior dome, which will add many more years of use. While retaining its signature curved appearance, the roof will have a smooth exterior surface while the triangular patterns will be visible inside on the ceiling – preserving Gampel’s unique feel, but creating an insulating effect better suited to the Northeast. At the same time, the new configuration will improve acoustics for fans inside the arena.

Depends how big the penalties are for missing the deadline. When the Njtnpk was done recently there where incentives for finishing early and lo and behold….

Breeze is my favorite airline. Insane amounts of legroom unless you opt for the lowest cost seats. It's so cheap I get first class most of the time. Round trip to South Carolina or Florida round trip from Providence, first class is under $300.

When they did the last renovation on the roof, I remember that they were debating between reupholstering the existing panels or adding panels with a solid interior surface, but insulation on the backside. It sounds as if they may have decided that the latter plan was preferable.

This also includes redoing all of the stuff for admin / training staff / etc. Training facilities have been a mess and way below what a school of our stature should have. Trainers have all been jammed into Gampel so they could work on renovating the areas in the fieldhouse - that's been going on for a while.

Overall the larger project (including the field house work) will be a vast improvement.

I can tell you horror stories about Breeze and how they upkeep their interfacing systems.

I went back and looked and it was Frontier we took to Vegas from Bradley. I don't know why I thought it was Breeze. My bad there. I'm not sure I've ever flown Breeze but I get e-mails from them all the time so maybe I did at one point.

I did a search and Frontier has the least amount of legroom in the industry (The U.S. Airlines With the Most and Least Legroom [Data Study]), which makes sense now. I fly on JetBlue a lot and they have way more legroom than that flight we took to Vegas on Frontier. I just remember my nose being a few inches away from the seat in front of me and feeling claustrophobic. I haven't taken a cheap flight since that trip to Vegas.
