That nails it. On a wider scale, most of the lesser conferences play on Saturday as well, and some out west on Wednesdays. Monday and Tuesday are the "dog days" - Monday of course gets a few "Big Monday" games, but they are the slow days.
I think the scheduling is still stuck in the mindset of a time when very few games were available on broadcast or streaming. Now almost every single game is available on some platform or another. It makes no sense to have all the teams in a power conference in action during only two time slots on one day. This is exactly why the men's games are spread around much better.

There is truth to what you say, particularly regarding the men. Because many men's games are televised, they are often spread out to accommodate the various broadcast contracts.

In general, at least based on what Vivian said and things I have read, conferences tend to schedule games on regular days because it not only helps with regard to the (limited) television contracts, but also helps with the scheduling at the schools regarding classes and such. Hence you have the PAC and their travel partners, the Big East also does travel partners. But playing set days helps with setting up the teams practice schedules and players classes. It is also easier for the conference, especially as they are scheduling men and women both who very well might share a facility.

Incidentally, and you probably know this, that's why women's schedules come out after the men.

Another Big East matchup tonight (Friday Jan. 10):
Xavier at Georgetown on FS2.
Both teams are really struggling this year. Xavier beat Utah in the season opener and has lost 13 straight since.

DePaul leading Seton Hall 46-41 at halftime.

8-0 run for DePaul to start Q4, firmly in control now.

Seton Hall went on a run of their own but DePaul pulled away again 85-68 final.

Selena Lott had an amazing game for Marquette as they stormed back to beat St. John's. Marquette really needed that win to right the ship in Big East play. Marquette trailed by 6 with 8 to play, and outscored the Red Storm 23-8 the rest of the way. Just a cool 34 points and 7 assists for Lott.

I was just about to post on this game! Incredible shooting performance by Lott. She got her 34 points on 12-18 shooting, including 4-6 from 3.

In Colonial Action tonight..... HuskyNan's Phoenix of Elon beat the brakes offa C of C .... .90-48  UNC-W goes on the road and upsets W&M 72-55. Sets up a showdown Sunday afternoon in Elon between the two lone North Carolina CAA members

It's Saturday and on CBSSN, Providence ended the first half on a 13-0 run for a 40-30 lead over Creighton.

The halftime show has a story about UConn's return to the Big East next season. Lots of thoughts by the league coaches, all very complimentary and excited about the return of Geno and company.

BTW, Providence has 2 Sophomores, one 6'3 and the other 6'4, that played on the court together. One, Baskerville looks real good (today) and I wonder why they are only 9-7.

It’s a mystery with some of these teams that can have good stretches, but Creighton has found a way back in and has a 5 point lead with a minute to play.

Can this be real? ESPN is showing a final score Iona 36 Monmouth 33. I thought the game I'm watching is bad.

I know @nwhoopfan dares not to dream, but I said the other day that Washington had put itself into the mix for a potential at-large bid. Well, sure enough, Charlie Creme has UW among has "next 4 out" in his most recent bracketology.

Wow! They are in a battle w/ Wazzu right now.

The OOC schedule isn't gonna help them any, they have to beat some of the better teams in the Pac to remain in the conversation.

I wouldn't say it doesn't help them. The win over Iowa looms larger than any loss they suffered.

Yeah...no. They don't finish games. Losses are gonna start piling up fast.

Gonzaga in a battle w/ Pacific so far. Tied at 22 early in Q2. Pacific played well against Oregon St. and UCLA, still can't figure out how they lost to CSU-Bakersfield. (I don't know if we can apply @triaddukefan adage about rivaly games, because there are dozens and dozens of teams in California, they can't all be rivals )

Really good game between Gonzaga and Pacific going on right now. Tied up 22-22.

33-32 Gonzaga at halftime. I think these are the 2 best teams in the WCC this year. St. Mary's jumped out to a 4-0 start but I have my doubts about them.

Huge day of hoops in Big South and Southern Conference action. My Spartans of UNC-G survive a surprising battle from Chattanooga and pull out a 49-41 victory. Improving to 13-4... its best start since 1991-1992. My Panthers of HPU go down to Charleston and thrash Charleston Southern 84-70. UNC-A currently leads at Radford 48-28.

Last but not least...... The Mighty Camels of Campbell went up to Hampton and left this
