Games Feb. 24 – Mar. 1

RPI is already mid 60s. They’d have wins over MSU and TAMU. They’d certainly be in the mix for it. The bubble is not strong.

Might take Duke's bid at this point.

UNC-G is down 34-26....... don't look good for My Spartans

Vandy leads LSU 27-26 at halftime.

High quality basketball in the PMAC tonight

Getting ready for NAU v Montana tip.

Watching on Pluto TV.

Big game for both squads.

Miserable night of basketball for my household..... UNC-G falls on the road at Samford 69-57.... Conference Regular Season Title gone up in smoke

.-.
Nina Radford breaks a 2 month scoring slump with 7 to lead the Jacks to a 10 lead at the end of the first period. The Griz... referred to on campus as the LadyGriz are ice cold.

Meanwhile Grand Canyon is trying to lose in Las Cruces to a not good NMSU team.

Midway through the second quarter the Griz have 15 turnovers. 20-11 Jacks

Also in the Big Sky I'm fairly certain Montana St. will lock up the regular season crown if they hold their big lead against Sacramento St. Up 49-25, win would push them to 16-1 in conference.

So the Lopes collapse in the second half. Poor performance on the road.

And speaking of collapse the Jacks hold a one-point lead at the half as the Griz come roaring that from midway through the second quarter. Their superior height is beginning to show.

That is correct. I believe they already have the title sewed up. The Jacks visit Montana State on Saturday in what will be a very difficult game. Then they return home for their final game of the season March 4th against Portland State.

.-.
Rasheed leading scorer in Big Sky scoreless in the first half.

5:40 mark of the third quarter Rasheed hits her first bucket of the game. The good news is Radford continues to shoot the ball very well after breaking out of extended slump. She leads all scorers with 13.

Griz take their first lead on an 8-0 run.

Upset alert in the Missouri Valley.

Illinois State leads Missouri State by 6 in mid-4Q. This would really hurt because MoSt had an outside chance at a hosting spot after TAMU's loss today.

Griz hit a 3 at the buzzer to give Montana a 46-42 lead. The Griz have all the momentum heading into the fourth.

Missouri St. was down 13 at the half. They got within 3, but then Illinois St. built the lead back up. Down 12 inside a minute left in the game.

Illinois State is another of those "pretty good" MVC teams in the 51-100 range. This figured to be a challenging game for the visitors (and it's why I boldfaced it in the listing).

Bradley had their hands full tonight w/ Southern Illinois but held serve 61-57.

Missouri St. has the tie breaker but I think this leaves the door open for Drake to catch up to them.

And next Missouri State plays at Bradley on Sunday. Won't get any easier for them.

@Plebe chances Villanova beat Creighton tomorrow to make it three straight vs the Big East's projected tourney teams per Creme Bracketology (last 2 were W vs Marquette 61-47 and DePaul 76-58)?

People think that "V" in their logo is the first letter in Villanova. It's actually a depiction of the thorn in the side of the rest of the Big East, which Villanova has always been.

The other thing about Villanova -- just as soon as they win some games and make you think they're really tough, Harry Perretta goes and sits in a hottub in Knoxville and they fall apart like a cheap crumbcake.

With the game in Omaha, I like Creighton here. Stakes are high here for them. A loss will put them in serious jeopardy of not making the tournament.

Can anyone explain Pacific? They looked solid in OOC, hung tough against Oregon St. and UCLA. They looked like clearly the second best team in the WCC behind Gonzaga. They just lost at home to a BAD San Francisco team tonight and fell to 8-9 in conference. The WCC is really not good this year, it's inexplicable that a team with 2 players as good as Higgins and McDavid can't even manage a winning record in a conference like that. Looking back on it losing to CSU-Bakersfield really did signal things were going downhill fast for them.

edit--I see Higgins has missed the last 2 games but they were disappointing long before that.

Drexel / JMU also on SNY.
Huge game for both teams. Not so much for the conference race (although a win here would all but clinch it for Drexel). The difference between being #1 or #2 for the CAA tournament will be negligible.

But these teams are 41 and 42 in the RPI. JMU has an overall better resume and is currently Creme's "last team in". A second win over JMU would elevate Drexel closer to the cut line.

James Madison opening up a can on Drexel early on. Now up 25-2 in mid-2Q.

Nicholls (9-16, 8-10 Southland) hosts New Orleans (13-11, 11-6 Southland) today at 2 pm. This game is the last big challenge for Nicholls in their quest to qualify for the conference tournament. They sit a half-game ahead of Central Arkansas, which visits Abilene Christian (17-5, 13-4 Southland) today.

I know she won't get it...but DoBee should be a candidate for COY in Southland. After a horrendous start to the season, she's got her team playing well now and on a 5-game win streak. The ladies could have folded the tent but have hung together.

Nicholls could also really use an ACU win over the Sugar Bears.

Game from Thibodaux is now underway. It's a pretty bare-bones production: no commentary or on-screen scoreboard.
