Games Feb. 17-23

My goodness, Florida-Gulf Coast @ NJIT, looks like there's about 50 people in the stands. FGCU coasting to an easy win.

Dayton in some danger of leaving the ranks of undefeated teams in conference. Trailing Fordham by 8 w/ 4 minutes left.

In a critical Southland game, Nicholls holds an 8-point lead over Central Arkansas after 3Q (@LETTERL ). The Sugar Bears are the team that Nicholls needs to chase down for that coveted 8th place spot to qualify for the conference tournament.

A couple of key Missouri Valley games:

Illinois State holds a 23-12 lead at Drake after 1Q. No nights off!

Bradley leads 20-16 at Northern Iowa in mid-2Q. Two bubble teams slugging it out here.

What's w/ Central Michigan? Up 2 inside the last minute against Northern Illinois. They seem to love close games, regardless of who they are playing.

Iowa having no trouble, leading Penn St. 49-26 at the half.

They're the offensively oriented version of last year's UCF team. Pulled out about a ton of close games, and did a great job of gaming the RPI, now at #18.

I think I might have jinxed my Spartans by showing up

Both of these going down to the wire.

Make that FOUR games in a row for the Colonels. 67-58 road win to take over 8th place in the Southland. Nicholls has become a dangerous team...one noone would want to face in the post-season. 8-16 on the year, 7-10 Southland. Just three games remaining. Geaux Colonels!

Northern Iowa gets the win over Bradley.

The NCAA bubble is a hot mess and the Missouri Valley is a microcosm of that. Both of these teams might be in, or both could be out.

I think that the Colonels of Thibodaux might be the most lethal 8-16 team in the country. @triaddukefan will confirm.

Young team...it took a while for the team to gel and for everyone to learn their roles and execute properly...but they have it going on now.

My Spartans storm back in the third.. 43-36 headed into the 4th

In a game with probably no implications for the bubble and definitely not for a conference race, BYU with an inexplicable loss on the road to a bad USF team (West Coast edition).

In a potentially more costly game, Grand Canyon lost at home to Utah Valley.

Gonzaga with another ho hum win 64-50 over Pepperdine. I'm not really sure how good they are at this point, they've been beating bad teams for 2 months now, and sometimes struggling to do it.

UNC-G's Seniors go out in style... with a hard fought 61-53 victory over a pesky set of Paladians from Furman. The crowd of 1,026 was spirited, even boisterous .... 1,026 might not sound like alot... but Fleming Gym only seats 1,800.... and the design really maximizes crowd noise. @LETTERL Jada Boyd's older sister plays for UNC-G. She's 6'2.... really the only interior size that they have.

In other SoCon action.... Chattanooga knocks off Samford...... so UNC-G is alone in first place with 2 games to go. In MEAC action..... NC A&T wins on Senior Night.... defeating the Howard Bison 60-55. In Big South Action.... HPU goes on the road to defeat the Radford Highlanders 64-63 in an absolute barnburner.

All in all..... a good day for the Division I North Carolina teams. All of them in action won.... except for Davidson... and the Catamounts of Western Carolina  ECU, NCCU, UNCC, CU, UNCA, and GWU all got the W today.

In Division III ...... unfortunately my Pride of Greensboro College lost on the road to a powerhouse Berea (KY) squad... 86-63 in the USA South Conference Tournament. Their season ends at 15-11 :( Many tears were shed I'm sure.

UNC and Wake Forest appear headed to OT...68-68 game. 3 seconds left.

Conti just hit a 3 to tie the game and send it to OT. Wake's first 3 of the game.

So many teams just don't know how to play situational defense when they're up by 3.

Wake with a 4-point lead on UNC...56 seconds left.

Not having Bailey today really hurt UNC.

Was very interesting to see the warm embraces between Hoover and some of the Carolina players. Quite the rapport there.

Virginia leads Virginia Tech at end of Q1, 27-18.

I don't know if you are being serious or sarcastic

Totally serious. Hugs and big smiles from Bennett and Koenen, for example, as they embraced after the game.
