Games Feb. 10-16

SNY carrying NYC's Columbia games. Must win game to try to get into 4 team conference tournament. Blowing out better record Harvard. 47-21 at half at home.
 
Upset alert: Rice trails Charlotte by 16 in the 4th quarter. This would be the Owls' 2nd consecutive loss.

South Dakota survived a scare at Oral Roberts, won 77-73. The Coyotes have won 13 straight since their loss to South Carolina in December.

Central Michigan continues to live dangerously with a closer-than-expected win over Bowling Green. CMU remains undefeated in the MAC and continues their status as the UCF of this year, with an inflated RPI and numerous close wins.

Speaking of UCF, the Knights won a rock fight over Cincinnati, 49-42, and moved up to #44 in the RPI.
 
Looks like I took a good time to take an afternoon nap. My Panthers get throttled at home to Gardner Webb.... fall to 6th place in the Big South... they were 2nd on Tuesday Afternoon. To make matters worse.... My Aggies lost at home in double OT to NC Central 86-80. To those unaware... the Aggie-Eagle Rivalry could very well be the biggest in HBCU. Top 3 biggest rivalry in NC in basketball.... #2 in football.

Nicholls has a win streak! 2 games! Defeating Southeastern Louisiana, 54-49. The Colonels now 6-16 on the season, 5-10 in the Southland, and now tied with Lamar for 9th place in the conference standings.

What are Nicholls' chances of finishing top 8 in the conference? Only the top 8 play in the conference tourney.

Not good. They're 2 games out of 8th place with 5 games remaining. However, one of those 5 games is against 8th-place Central Arkansas, so they will have a chance to stake their claim.

Ha nice catch and I'm glad you asked. I am using our Boneyard poll for those rankings :) Tennessee was in the "receiving votes" category of our latest poll.

North Carolina is down 10 to Boston College in 3Q, possibly headed to a 4th loss in a row.

UNC has tumbled in the RPI from the 50s just a couple weeks ago to #97, and a loss today would probably drop them out of the 100.

A key game in the A-10 on ESPNU right now: Undefeated Dayton (11-0) is hosting 2nd-place VCU (9-2).

It's actually a good game with a great crowd on hand. Dayton is up 56-50 at the last media TO.

I caught just a minute of the end of this game. I'd written off Dayton after OOC, didn't realize they were undefeated still in A-10 play.
 
Utah is making me look bad. I've been fairly impressed w/ them lately, but they got absolutely steamrolled by Stanford on Friday and are trailing Cal 25-13 in Q2. They cannot lose at home to the Bears.

Is Maxwell scoring today? I saw that Stanford shut her out on Friday. Tara and her squad will do that to primary scoring options. I really like the way Maxwell plays and conducts herself. Could be All-PAC-12 as early as next season. Should be on the PAC-12 All-Freshmen team. A quality shooter with some length at the #2 position.

Maxwell has 9 on 3-5 shooting. Something has gotten into Cal today, up 48-36 at the half.

wow it looked like Bama got hosed by a call there at the end. Georgia appeared from the replay to have committed a shot clock violation, which would've given Bama the ball with 3.5 seconds left to score. Instead, the refs ruled no shot clock violation, and so Bama only had 0.5 seconds. Georgia wins by 1.
 
Utah is coming back, now down 55-52 midway thru Q3.
 
Utes outscoring CAl 22-10 in Q3, now tied up w/ about a minute left.
 
Utah briefly grabbed a 1 point lead but Cal up 64-60 thru Q3.

Indiana hasn't been playing great basketball for a while now. It feels like they peaked in November.
