The UConn women's basketball team (12-4, 7-0) faces familiar BIG EAST foe Providence (9-10, 4-6) at 7:30 p.m. at in Providence Rhode Island this evening. The game was initially scheduled for 11 a.m. at Dunkin' Donuts Center. Due to severe winter weather and the Providence men's game needing to move, the women's game changed to 7:30 p.m. on the Friars' campus.

The Huskies aren’t entirely back to their full selves yet, with Paige Bueckers waiting in the wings heading into February. But in their win over DePaul Wednesday, they finally got a clearer picture of what their ceiling can be with senior Christyn Williams out of COVID-19 protocols and finally, freshman Azzi Fudd back from a foot injury that had sidelined her for 11 games. Fudd provides a much-need offensive threat, including some firepower from the perimeter, while also being a strong defender for a freshman. Wednesday was also the first time that she got to share the floor with Caroline Ducharme since the latter has emerged as a consistent, go-to scorer. Now UConn has a plethora of guards it can mix into the backcourt after playing six of their previous nine games with only three.

UConn last time out - Freshman Caroline Ducharme scored the game winner with 1.5 seconds left to lead UConn past DePaul, 80-78, on Wednesday. Ducharme led the Huskies with 19 points in the game. Senior Christyn Williams returned after missing three games in COVID protocols and scored 17 points. Freshman Azzi Fudd played for the first time since Nov. 22 and added 15 points in 22 minutes. The Blue Demons used a 21-2 run in the second quarter to take a 40-31 lead into halftime. The Huskies outscored DePaul 23-13 in the third to retake the advantage. The teams traded leads nine times and had five ties.

Providence last defeated Connecticut on March 7, 1993 in the semifinals of the BIG EAST Tournament held at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. On that day, the Friars claimed an 87-73 victory. The last time Providence defeated a nationally-ranked opponent dates back to Jan. 23, 2013. On that day, the Friars earned a 65-60 overtime victory against No. 25 Villanova in Providence, R.I.

Scouting Providence: UConn is 41-21 all-time against the Friars. The teams met once last season on Jan. 26, 2021, with UConn winning 87-50 in Storrs. Providence could pose a threat around the rim as the team is No. 2 in the nation with 6.6. blocks per game. The Friars trail only South Carolina (8.3 blocks per game). Enfield native Mary Baskerville was named to the 2021 All-Big East second team. The 2019 Big East Freshman of the Year led the team last year with averages of 12.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.4 steals per game. She led the Big East in blocks. The 6-foot03 senior forward leads Providence with 4 blocks per game this season.

Providence last time out - The Friars are coming off a 95-71 loss to Creighton on Friday night in Omaha. Both teams shot north of 50-percent from the field, but Creighton gained a significant advantage by scoring 27 points off of 19 Providence turnovers. The Blue Jays also were lethal from the three-point line, hitting 16-34 attempts. Janai Crooms led the Friars with 16 points, while Alyssa Geary added 14. Freshman Audrey Koch scored a career-high 13 points, hitting double figures for the first time as a Friar. Lauren Jensen led four Bluejays in double figures with a game-high 20 points.

I just noticed the Men's Hockey game proceeding the BB game is tied 0-0 after 2 periods.

What happens in the event of a tie after regulation?
Multiple OT periods that can go on forever?
Will SNY stay with the Hockey game in this case?
Will SNY.tv have a separate stream for the BB game if there is overlap?

5 minute OT and if still tied then a shootout
