Gameday going to..

Maybe UCLA vs. New Mexico State? Not sure I'd say UCLA is a normal Gameday school. Otherwise maybe Maryland vs. WVU. I'd say Auburn vs. LSU is the obvious choice, but it doesn't get much more "on the grid" than LSU.

Picked this up from Reddit. Sources aside, I agree with their top 4 most likely match ups:

Utah @ BYU
Arkansas @ Rutgers
Houston @ Rice
Michigan @ UConn
Columbia @ Fordham (the FCS pick)

I like the BYU vs Utah choice as number one. But if it's off the grid, it has to have a story line of some sorts or at least have a high ranked school involved.

Mich vs UConn has the ranked named school AND it has a story of the rise and fall of the UConn FB program. :( Plus we invented WBB and are a storied men's BB program.

Back to reality. I know they aren't coming here but RU vs Ark? Really? Time to find a cliff......

RU-Arkansas isn't "off the grid"

We're likely not, either, but that's open to interpretation...

UCONN for a football game is 100% off the grid. I'm liking the chances.

Well, Fowler just posted on twitter that they love the Coug fans, but that they will wait for a bigger game to go to BYU...so scratch them off the list (they were the front runners in my mind).

DAMN! I hate to rain on this parade, but you can close this thread down. This is what I just got, verbatim...

Not at the Rent, but definitely waaay "off the grid" - and way farther west than East Hartford.

watch the rx when they pull the trucks on to Rutgers campus

If 2 of the FCS teams that knocked of FBS opponents were matching up that would've been my #1 pick - maybe it'll be a CAA game somewhere...Richmond@Liberty or something.

Not sure why it has to be on a Disney channel. I'm guessing it is North Dakota State. Didn't Gameday go to an FCS school last year for some historical reason?

You might have nailed it. We will see.

Can you at least look at the schedule I've linked and tell us who would be the choice? Remember, off the grid, with a ranked team on the Disney channels.

Lousiville or BYU

On the other thread about this, I had posted they were going to either Texas, ND or Stanford. None of those are really off the grid, so maybe they changed their plans. I just know there is a contest around gameday and the people who entered were told that the location was either TX, ND or Stanford. They were told because it required them to travel to those locations. It might have changed because of the early losses by Tx and ND. Who knows.

On another note...to be honest I don't want them to go to UConn. Just another chance for the rest of the country to say "they play football?"...followed by...."why are there so few fans and why do they look so sad"?

Followed by..."is this at UCONN or Michigan??" A sea of maize at our home stadium would look AWFUL on Gameday. Now that would be embarrassing.

Way back when I was in college, I went to the Memphis-Tennessee game that Peyton Manning and company lost in Memphis. It was essentially a Tennessee game. A sea of Orange. Peyton probably lost the Heisman and much more that day. Memphis had a craptastic team as usual but pulled off the win somehow. The Memphis fans that were there, rushed the field and pulled the goalposts down. It was pretty dramatic.

Is Wiliams vs Amherst this week?? I know they went there a few years ago I have a feeling it'll be something like that

It's either gonna be BYU/Utah (Holy War) or Northern Illinois/Eastern Illinois.

Fowler already scratched BYU yesterday:

We love the passion of Cougs fans (Wazzu and BYU)! However, we will wait for bigger games to visit. @CollegeGameDay not there next Sat.

I just looked at the NESCAC and Ivy schedules, nothing special cooking in either league. This is probably going to be a DII or DIII story outwest. Other than that, I do think the Fordham/Columbia match up might have legs, its west of Hartford too.... if the ESPN insider we being cute about that directional comment.

Game day going to North Dakota according to mcmurphy on twitter
