Gamecocks 2025-2026 Season

Let's beat TCU first. I'm pretty confident, as I've already made my snark video for playing UCONN.

Well, would like to have looked better on offense and in defending over screens going into UConn matchup but at least the 4th looked nice and Agot really turned it on.

I'm so confused about what we are doing with Dauda/Tournebize.

Douda played the best game of her Carolina career tonight. She is an almost big, which is why I generally question why she’s on the court, but fit perfect for ‘let’s play small and speed it up.’

Congrats to SC on TCU win! Agot Makeer makes a nice #6 player, similar in getting to the hoop as fellow frosh Quinones from UConn.

I realize Dawn dealing with injuries this year, but the SC starting 5 of Johnson, Johnson, Latson, Edwards and Okot is highly skilled and fits together perfectly.

I'm really looking forward to a good game Friday night. I'm glad this UConn team brings a lot of experience vs fast, athletic teams, as we are going to need it. 😁

if Uconn starts out high energy and making shots it will be a long night. They have the largest number of good 3 point shooters in the nation. If not, could be a great game. If SC plays tight, it won’t end well. But all 4 teams have a shot at the title. Can’t wait and glad we’re playing UConn first

Agot Makeer player of the game tonight. She broke the game open and just took over in the 4th. They let her go iso multiple times and TCU had no answer. Great games by her, Raven, and Joyce.
The fact she was guarding Miles and allowed to go at her stood out to me. Her progression this season has been steady and it's coming up big at the right time. Really happy for her.

South Carolina 78, TCU 52

This one was still a game going into the last quarter, and then the dam burst on TCU. Some observations:
  • South Carolina is consistently able to get scoring from anyone in their starting five. Many good teams rely on two, maybe three players to provide the offense. On any given night, we’ll get double digit scoring from all of our starting five. And last night, Makeer played like someone who wants to be in that starting five next year.
  • Tessa had 0 points at half, then remembered she’s Tournament Tessa and began burying 3s.
  • Tournabeize will give us more next year. She needs a full offseason to reach the next level.
  • Dauda has a limited skill set as a big, but we’re getting her max effort.
  • There were several plays in the second half where our player with the ball gave it up to a teammate with a better percentage shot. Unselfishness is baked into our team.
  • Joyce had a double-double early last night. Is her rebounding improving?

I think we have a better team this year than the one which got boatraced twice by UConn last year. And, Paige moved on to the WNBA. I don’t think we should be favored, but we should give them a better game. To be the champ, you gotta beat the champ. This is our chance.

The teams have played three great games in the tournament, and South Carolina has two of them (Southern Cal, Oklahoma, UConn v Syracuse). They have played three games where a different opponent in that round miiiight have made it interesting and UConn has two of those (UNC, Notre Dame, us v TCU).

UConn can take this as "so we are due for a game we click on all cylinders." South Carolina can take this as "so we are playing better when it matters most." Whoever wins, their fans will retcon their framing into "see? I tried to tell you. It was SO obvious!"

i think that UConn lost a consensus national player of year from last year's team and didn't remotely replace her and SCar is better than it was a year ago.

SCar's offense is a little more sporadic though UConn has 'struggled' more against the better defenses than the others that they play.

I've got Strong being the difference in this one. I think UCLA or Texas should probably be favored over the winner.

I’m not sure who can guard Strong. I haven’t really seen anyone do it, although she hasn’t played many teams with the personnel. Watkins could do it as well as anyone, won’t help us for Friday. I guess it has to be Joyce, with Raven/Makeer covering Fudd?

I'm so afraid of the Dauda minutes and really not enthused by the possibilities of zone. It is a problem.

Alternate universe where the player best equipped to guard Sarah Strong in the entire sport doesn’t suffer a freak accident and miss consecutive matchups in the national title game and Final Four.
