Well, Nan closed the off-season thread this morning. So it’s Season time.

My biggest question is : Will Raven have the chemistry and non- verbal communication with Okot that she had with Aliyah and Kamilla?

ESPN did a transfer rating with Larson checking in at #1 and Okot at 10.

My petty gripe is that the article said SCar would have to be more perimeter oriented without Watkins and Kitts.

I do not think that's going to be the case.

Kitts is a great player and has become a favorite player of mine, but the coaches voted her backup Joyce Edwards first team All SEC last year and preseason 1st team.

Okot is 6'6.

I'm willing to bet that this team still runs inside out.

Will Latson also get a ton of shots? Probably.

The starting line up for tonight’s game is a no-brainer but that leaves a big drop off with what we have on the bench with so much youth and inexperience and the one vet needing a big jump in production (not out of the question as she had a big jump between frosh and soph).

I’m feeling some similarities with the ‘19-‘20 season when Destanni started the exhibition but then was moved to the bench for the regular season. I can see Dawn experimenting with the frontcourt during nonconf and I would not be surprised to see Dauda in the starting lineup by SEC play with Joyce coming in quickly off the bench. It doesn’t preclude Joyce from still playing in the 30 mpg range but it allows Dawn to stagger the sub packages to manage possible bench drop off, particularly on the offensive side.

have no complaints with the box score for that one, though I would like to see more out of Tessa and Dauda.

Obviously very nice lines for Joyce Edwards, Okot and Makeer.

I wish I was there to get a feel for the players. I'm glad to see Joyce had a great game. 27 points in 26 minutes on 70% shooting, including 2-2 from three, is an accomplishment no matter the competition.

Looks like the first full team substitution was:

PG: Maddy for Raven
SG: Makeer for Latson
W: Ayla McDonald for Tessa
F: Dauda for Joyce
P: Tac for Okot

Makeer got the most bench minutes with 24+ and led the bench scoring. A good debut for her but we gotta remember the defensive level of our opponent. We’ll see what she does against UNC

Would love to know how the pursuit of the international player(s) are going.

Looks like PG has to be addressed in the portal.
Agree. But, is Dawn Ready to abandon the PG (her own first half life in basketball) as a specialty position and move toward "positionless Basketball?" Jerzy handles the ball quite well but I haven't seen her against a small, super-quick pg that specializes in picking pockets.

We have enough, but not with as much depth as usual. I think this year's freshmen will shine.

I come in peace...,..... For now.

I'm not sure why we need to be any deeper than we are..

It will come down to the fits and defense as to the ceiling, but plenty here to win the SEC and make the F4 on paper.

I am as anxious and doubting as the next one about my own team but the starting five is probably better than last season's runner up.

The bench is probably worse.

Maybe the team isn't as tough, I don't know. We will see.

Seeing GC tweet saying Kelsi Andrews has knee surgery this week (meniscus and cartilage). After two previous ACL repairs (one to each knee) I'd say she may have trouble getting back to full performance.
