Syracuse fans think they held back vs Tennessee and will paste UConn by 20 pts.

If we don't get a pass rush that person may be right

I want to win the game, but there’s nothing special about Syracuse for me but if ever there was a chance for a signature win to let the rest of college football know this isn’t the same old UConn - this would be it.
One FBS win, won't do it. If we win, the narrative will just be that it's a down year for Syracuse. We need to consistently beat lower tier FBS teams to change our narrative. Step one on that journey was completed last year when, other than Maryland, we were consistently competitive.

It took a long time to dig the deep dark hole that UConn football found itself in. It's going to take a while to climb out. One step (rung?) at a time.

DL and LB play on our end will dictate this thing (my opinion)... We come out and play the way we played against CCSU ( a much more inferior opponent ) we will get molly-whopped... That 'Cuse QB will tear us apart the way the kid they had the last 2 year did... He's a P5 level QB... We may see a little better play against us from their freshman phenom who just turned 17 this past April ... He's a starting DB, but also plays on the other side of the ball at WR (Demetres Samuel, Jr.).. and remember they have 6'1 235lb bowling ball RB Yasin Willis ( a real problem at that size ), not to mention Texas WR transfer Johntay Cook...

on a brighter note, at least this wasn't our week 1 opponent like what we experienced against Maryland last year... We've had some actual live game action this time around... also, this 'Cuse squad is from a finished product... they make mistakes... Hopefully they make a few against us an we capltalize. ( Love our QB WR tandem in Fagnano and Bell... Hopefully we see Porter make a deep ball play or 2 as well ... big opportunity for him here )

“Apologize for being boring.”

Who is going to Cuse and where are Husky fans meeting up/tailgating prior to the game. Let's make it a Husky takeover of the Dome!

-> "It was great for us to get going and play someone else," UConn tight end Alex Honig said Tuesday. "It was great to get some game speed and see who we are as a team. This will be another test. But anytime you get on the field and between the lines it's incredible. It's exciting to come off an offensive performance like we had but we have to focus on Syracuse with a different defense and different guys and I would say a much higher level of football."…

… "It's easy to look at the score or the yards or the explosive plays we had and lean back and be happy," Honig said. "But we're playing to our standards. There were things we did miss on and didn't capitalize on. We have to fix what we can be better at." <-

-> "Every day is a new day," Mora said. "We have to focus on being the best we can be every day. We made the corrections Sunday and Monday and moved on to Syracuse. It's a whole new proposition, a whole new journey, a new challenge so we refocus. <-

-> “Based on today’s practice, our guys are wired in and they’re ready to accept the challenge,” head coach Jim Mora reported after practice on Tuesday. “But it’s going to be difficult. It’s going to reveal a lot and these are the kind of games that you relish. So we’ve got to have a great week of preparation and we’ve got to go out and play as close to perfect as we can to have a chance to stand with these guys.” <-

-> There are also a number of coaching connections in this game: Syracuse head coach Fran Brown and UConn’s first-year quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator Pryce Tracy were both part of Georgia’s coaching staff in 2022, helping the Bulldogs to a national championship … Syracuse co-offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Michael Johnson was on Mora’s staff when he was head coach of the Atlanta Falcons in 2004-05 … UConn linebackers coach Siriki Diabate played at Syracuse and served as a graduate assistant for the Orange from 2013-15 … UConn defensive line coach Kenny McClendon and Syracuse defensive backs coach Joe Shaefer coached together at Iowa State in 2017 and again at Youngstown State in 2020 and 2021 <-
