Game Week 2022 - UConn v. Syracuse (Saturday 9/10/22 @ 7p on CBSSN)

While saying Cole Millen is back to the prospect that committed to Oregon.
I am replying to my own post, lol.

I think this is a big test for Turner - he is a true freshman and it has shown so far, if he struggles v. a P5 this week I don’t think there is anything wrong with getting Millen into games.

There is an art to this.

Need to make sure there are certain play packages based on down/distance or another identifiable metric where Cale comes in for his plays.

Makes it easy to explain to both QB's what is being done and mitigate any incertsinty for rest of team over QB situation.

And that they are going to work on ways to make use of him. That doesn’t mean that Turner isn’t the starter or is in danger of losing that position. It just means that they are likely to run sets for Cole.

-> More than 62% of the plays UConn has called on offense through two games have been on the ground (93). The Huskies have averaged 259.5 rushing yards per game and 5.6 yards per attempt. <-

-> Carter sits at 313 total yards for the season after amassing 190 at Utah State and 123 against Central Connecticut. He is averaging 156.5 rushing yards per game, good for second in the FBS. Carter’s rushing load includes over 46% of the team’s carries – the rest, however is picked up by the speedy combination of Brian Brewton (15 att. for 80 yards) and Devontae Houston (6 att. for 44 yards).

UConn has also utilized power back Robert Burns and receivers Aaron Turner and Dajon Harrison in the run game. Freshman Victor Rosa, a Bristol Central High alum, saw game action against CCSU and put together an impressive run for his first career touchdown in garbage time. Backup quarterback Cale Millen, who is coming back from shoulder surgery, has seen in-game reps mostly come on run plays, though one pass play was called against CCSU where Millen had to throw it away. <-

-> For UConn, the plan is unchanging: Establish the running game to create passing opportunities for its young quarterback.

“Schematically, we’re at the point in our development where best thing for us to do is just do what we do and continue to try and do it better and better,” Mora said. “Because we haven’t played a lot in this scheme together, only two games.” <-

SU's OLine has a huge size advantage over UConn's DLine.

Whichever team can control LOS and time of possession may just wear down the other team.

UConn has to have sustained drives, convert on 3rd down and keep their defense off the field as much as possible through three qtrs to have a chance Saturday night.

As mentioned earlier, Fruit was in a 17 to 7 game till 4th qtr where had a 15 yard and 25 yard TD drives so turnovers were big factor in making game look one sided. UConn squandered several good TD positions so could have scored in 30's or more.
Range of play could get to UConn close win up to Fruit getting a big (25 or more points) win. I'm pulling for the upset with some good turnover differential for UConn.
After 2 games it is reasonable UConn will win at least 1 game this year.

We have a good kicker. It might make a difference

Good kid. Was a teammate of my son. Nice parents. Dad played at UConn. You may hear mom say night - she’s a screamer.

Too bad he chose Cuse, but understandable at the time. Unfortunately I can’t root for him and I hope they wear the wrong shoes.

Just bought tickets for me and my 3 grandchildren…can I pay for parking at the gate… or is it better to pay online before the game? I haven’t been to a game in 4 years and I went though Pratt to get tickets at the time so I’m not sure what would be best
Yes you can pay at the gate. If you want to park super close to the stadium, I believe you can buy a blue lot pass on stubhub or other secondary sites. if available. Can't buy a blue lot pass at the gate, but can basically pay to park anywhere else.

Gimme the points. I got 22.5...won't go higher, will only get bet down. 2-0 against the spread so far this year and still getting disrespected in the lines. Mora has us beating Vegas so far.
