It's a first down, how does calling a timeout there help you? Does he think this is the NFL?

No way they get a stop here....they are running at will on the defense

Yeah can't stop run at all.

For having a defensively minded coach as HC, our defense has been atrocious in the second half.

The clock starts on the refs whistle...why wouldn't you call a time out?

The defense was looking good. BUT-clearly our coaches had no answer to the full backfield. The instant the Bulls realized we had no clue how to handle that formation-it was over.

Too much chaos on offense and big plays did us in on defense. Disappointing after watching us move the ball so well.

On the other hand, I'd rather be furious and frustrated with a game we should have won than sickened by a totally hopeless effort like we saw last year. Plenty of games left we can win IF we clean up our act.

Its upsetting but put the pitchforks away. Remember last season? We are not good.

This, and the inability to capitalize in the redzone is the entire game. All this quitting talk is silly - the coaches were stumped once USF changed their formation.
Things are still moving in the right direction but the coaching needs to improve.

I always considered this season a throw away. If 2016 doesn't bring improvements when diaco has time and his guys I will be concerned

Doesn't it?

No, the clock starts long after the play clock. If they don't wind time off the clock on that down, they'll do wind even more time off on 3rd down when you don't have a timeout left.

Pretty sure your wrong. The click starts when the chains move.

Because you lose your TO for 3rd down, so on 3rd down the clock runs along with the play clock. After a first down, the play clock does not reset when the game clock starts running. In other words, the opposing team runs less time off the clock after a first down than it can after a 3rd down.

Sick to my stomach with some of the missteps today, but we competed and we are really young. The play and the coaching is uneven but I still like our potential for next year. Our HC, OC and DC are all learning on the job.
