GAME THREAD: Tulane @ Connecticut - 1/27/18

And that is why she can only be the sideline reporter, she can not pronounce words without having to repeat them 2, 3, or 4 times before she gets it correct. Sue can and she has been very informative during her color commentator job. It's not her fault that she is told to keep talking during blowouts, that is on ESPN.
Swin, what this MSG talking about?

Lost it on the bogus walk call on Lexi Gordon's shot.
Looked like she was also fouled on the shot. She’d probably make the “and 1” and you would have lost it by 1 anyway.

I had a 50 pt mov, so I was rooting for the 3 pt shot by the Tulane guard at the end of the game.

These conference games don't do much for me. I want to see Megan play well for 15-20 mins on Thursday night and against Louisville on the 12th of Feb. Those might be the only meaningful games remaing for UCONN until the FF.
I don't like these conference scrimmages either. The lack of opponent's defense allowing UConn to run their offense like a walk thru doesn't help at all in preparation for top 20 teams and the injury potential has me worrying on every collision. Agree on Walker, she's really found the key to her toolbox. The potential is really high.

Tremendous game and effort from UCONN. Given the heft of our OOC schedule, I hardly think the cakewalk that is our conference should bother anyone. If anything, it's a welcome reprieve to witness the team as they strive for perfection. This was as close to a perfect game as I've seen the core 7 play all season. Great effort leading up to the SC game Thursday...

BTW, three turnovers in seven minutes of play for Molly Bent.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that notices. . . My wife says I'm too critical of her play. I think its just disappointment that she hasn't developed faster. To this point I view her as a project. I really don't know if she will ever really make it on this team

I forgot to DVR this game...grrr.
I'll have to watch the replay when it's posted.

Sam Fam stats(Career) through today's game
Rebounds Karlie - 357; Lou 330; Bonnie 195
3 Pt baskets made Karlie 249; Bonnie 237; Lou 235
FT's Made Bonnie 195; Lou 185; Karlie 179
Points Lou 1410; Karlie 1164; Bonnie 952
And she has another year to go. She should both in 3pt baskets and FT's this year and even rebounds if she averages 3 or more a game, and that is not including the NCAA Tournament.

Didn't see the game but the box score looked good for the most part.

If Lou stays healthy, she may catch her Mater Dei and UConn sister.

We played fantastic today.
1. Loved Kia's first quarter Hair

2. Today was a Gabby Game. She was unbelievable! I could not be mor proud of her to fight through the injury, you can see the pain on her face when she was on the bench.

3. The MIC caught Geno killing Kia when she didn't defend the three good enough.. I believe he said something like " what the hell are you doing" The funny part is she wasn't that far off her defender.

4. Amazing how many deflections we create that lead to steals and layups. The fast break looked awesome today.

5. Team and crowd energy was awesome.

Too me this was an A game. Great job!

Fun game! I decided late to go - just couldnt turn down an afternoon game in Storrs with good weather! So I bought one of the last cheap seats. Got in, bought my ice cream and wandered around watching warmups. Saw a number of unoccupied seatback seats. Once intros were done, I shamelessly upgraded myself and filled one of those very nice seats! ;)
Loved watching them play on all cylinders. Gabby looked great. But then, the first seven all looked great! Great to see Batouly taking it to the basket with authority. Some good moments for most of the bench.

Z from 3. Fantastic. Now Wilson will have to guard her out there on Thursday
Hope not. Z is so much quicker, want her down low for layups and fouls.

Great to see Batouly take it strong to the hoop
Quickest I have seen her play. Would like to see her get more playing time, particularly against some of the tall 4's and 5's. No slight to Kyra but Batouly has more upside and offers a different level of defense and physicality.

Z is quicker than Wilson, but to take advantage of that quickness, she has to pull Wilson out of the paint.

Bench scoring the past 3 games:

Temple 39
Memphis 36
Tulane 32

Good job!

This is what was said all along by many of us. When they get into the AAC Geno will play the bench more and because they aren't playing top 10 top 20 teams when the bench comes in, they will play better. Many fans on here just think because the young kid puts on the UCONN uniform they will suddenly transform into a really, really good player. With freshmen, it doesn't work that way. That's why so many vastly overrate "recruiting classes" with their expectations of freshmen. The expectation of some regarding freshmen is not reasonable. It's not the players. It's the expectations of freshmen that are out of whack.
