Game Day! Sun versus Mercury

Griner hits a turnaround jumper, 86-84. 2:45 left.

A. Thomas gets away with a chicken wing and scores in the paint. Then Bonner answers.

Phoenix up 6, all with Taurasi conspicuously missing from the offense. 92-86 w/ 1:11 left. Griner has had a huge second half and Bonner has been good as well.

Williams had a great game but missed her last several shots and her teammates aren't stepping up. D shooting FT to extend the lead.

.-.
Bonner w/ another rebounding and got fouled. 94-86 w/ 28 seconds left, shooting FT.

27 apiece for DT and Griner and 23 for Bonner. The Big 3 with another huge game. 18 rebounds for Bonner, 6 blocks for Griner, 5 assists for DT.

That was strange. DT was fantastic thru 3 quarters but just was not involved down the stretch. She would pass the ball early in the shot clock and never touch it again.

.-.
Williams got hot and gave Connecticut the lead in Q4, but Griner blocked her reverse layup and then the Sun turned the ball over on the next possession. I think that Phoenix scored on every possession over the last 3-4 minutes.

It's hard to beat the G.O.A.T., especially when she is motivated.

Wow!!! A Phoenix win over the Sun on the road. Didn't see that one coming. I thought the Sun could defend their home court. The Sun crashed and burned by 10 points. I didn't think Dee and Bonner would have back to back huge games.

Phoenix's next series against the Storm could be epic. That series may well be decided in 5 games. Another outstanding game from Dee and her posse.

Wow, Bonner is leading everybody w/ 13 rebounds! With all of those big bodies on the floor, how is she doing that?

Smoke and mirrors.

Bonner is a beast on the boards tonight! Not as many points as last game but her rebounds have kept them in it for sure.
She finished with 23 and 18.

The announcers made a point on Tuesday of noting that the Mercury had the best record in the league when Sancho Lyttle got hurt. Once they put DeWanna at power forward and the team adjusted, they were rolling again.

I wonder who Diana was so pissed at? She had gotten into it with Thomas earlier so it may have been directed at her. Feel bad for CT coming up short at home again but "D" is tough to beat. They sure didn't lay down like LA did. Dangerous team.

I know it... I’m really hoping the Storm win the championship this year. I think I’m going to be really stressed this week...
