Why Indiana? I was looking for a full length AP article on a free site and found it on the Evansville Intelligencer site along with an article from the CT Post that must hav been pu on the wire

No. 11 UConn women top Creighton 63-58 after long layoff, AP article

UConn women defeat Creighton in first game back in three weeks, Maggie Vanoni, CT Post
"They need Ducharme and her five rebounds, three blocks, two assists and two steals."

Can you believe she is only a freshman? She can do both D and O and played a solid 38 mins.

Nice job by the "Intelligencer" getting the score wrong in the title.

UConn has been getting a lot of press in Indiana because of Ayanna Patterson being a high profile recruit.
Also Indy's Ashlynn Shade of the class of 2023 announced that UConn was among her final 8 schools and she was at the game yesterday with her father.
These are high profile recruits that draw attention to the program from the midwest in general as well as Indiana.
Paige is from MN, KK Arnold is from WIsconsin, and even Dorka came through the Ohio State program.

Any news about UConn helps to keep the program relevant between national title runs.
Indiana is also a state where its NBA team is the most popular sports team for a significant percentage of its counties as opposed to the Colts.
The US heartland which includes Indiana also appears to be where the most NBA basketball players are born which shows that some geographical areas have more of an affinity for basketball than others.

There's a lot of different sport maps that reveal public perspectives about various sports which provides clues about which areas may follow WCBB and why.
Indiana also has a WNBA team.

Actually, the article is from the Edwardsville, IL paper, not the Evansville, IN paper. Just a different city and state, but close. I doubt the article was due to our scheduled game against Butler this week since Edwardsville is about 250 miles from Indy.

Illinois is still in the basketball heartland.
The states listed in the link below have the most interest in basketball based on 5 years of Google search statistics.
